Alabama Shakespeare Festival Begins 4/20

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival's spring repertory season will be in full bloom with the openings of two new plays, Around the World in 80 Days in the Festival Theatre and the Tony Award-winning comedy God of Carnage in the Octagon Theatre, on April 20. Both shows run through May 19. Tickets start at $30 and may be obtained on line at www.asf.net, by phone at 1.800.841.4273 or by visiting the ASF box office at 1 Festival Drive in the heart of Montgomery's beautiful Blount Cultural Park.

Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, To Kill a Mockingbird, will be staged at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival tonight, March 8-24. Four additional performances will take place May 12, 15, 17 and 18 during ASF's final week of the repertory season. Adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel, the play is directed by Diana Van Fossen.

Under the direction of ASF's producing artistic director Geoffrey Sherman, one of the literature's greatest and most powerful tragedies is set in a haunting post-Apocalyptic world.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company announces casting for the two remaining productions of their 25th Anniversary Season. The Servant of Two Masters, running from May 15-June 24 at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street NW), and The Merry Wives of Windsor, running from June 12-July 15 at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW), both feature new and familiar faces to STC's stages.

Drake may be taking the hip hop world by storm but he'd better not get too comfortable in the spotlight. Has anyone heard him rap in iambic pentameter? In the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Company's Bomb-itty of Errors the cast of four and their DJ do just that and knock straight out of the park.
