Women's Project Theater's 2014-15 Season to Feature Works by Cori Thomas, Kate Benson & More

Women's Project Theater, under the leadership of new Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty and Interim Executive Producer Jessica R. Jenen has announced the four plays in its 2014-15 season, continuing the theater's 37 year commitment to producing the finest work by women in the theater. Beginning in October, WP Theater's season will include new work by Cori Thomas (My Secret Language of Wishes), directed by Daniella Topol (Charles Ives take Me Home, Row After Row); Kate Benson (Lee Miller), directed by Lee Sunday Evans (The Play About My Dad); Tanya Barfield (The Call, Blue Door), directed by Leigh Silverman (Violet--Tony Nominee, Chinglish, Well), and Laura Eason (Sex With Strangers, "House of Cards"), directed by Kirsten Kelly (Slipping).

The Hub Theatre Welcomes Matt Bassett as Associate Artistic Director

The Hub has announced Matt Bassett as their new Associate Artistic Director. Matt joined The Hub Theatre as a company member after appearing in 2011's The Clockmaker and has since served as Casting Associate for The Hub, directed 2014's Failure: A Love Story, assistant-directed 2012's Big Love (2013 Helen Hayes nomination - Outstanding Direction for Kirsten Kelly) and directed many table and staged readings for new play development for The Hub.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) along with Chicago's civic and cultural leaders celebrate William Shakespeare's 450th Birthday with the premiere of 'Our City, Our Shakespeare,' a documentary exploring Shakespeare's enduring presence in Chicago, featuring Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Art Institute of Chicago, Joffrey Ballet, among others. Produced by Emmy award-winning HMS Media, the program premieres May 1 at 8:00 p.m. on WTTW Channel 11. Shakespeare's 450th birthday on April 23 begins the internationally recognized Shakespeare Quadricentennial Celebration through 2016, marking 400 years of Shakespeare's legacy since his death in 1616. On this occasion, Chicago's cultural community heralds the prolific poet and playwright's lasting impact on our lives-through our everyday speech and in cultural institutions, schools and neighborhoods across the city.

Chicago Shakespeare Sets 2014-15 Season: HAMLET, KING LEAR, SEUSSICAL & More

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and Executive Director Criss Henderson announced today eight productions of the upcoming 2014/15 Season, which includes four major Shakespearean titles, plus a sequel to Shakespeare's epic tragedy and a world premiere musical based on a classic novel.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater to Present CPS SHAKESPEARE! OTHELLO, 11/1-2

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST), a partner in literacy with Chicago Public Schools, presents CPS Shakespeare! Othello. A citywide ensemble of 28 students and teachers from eleven CPS high schools will perform Shakespeare with professionally designed period costumes, sets and lights on the Chicago Shakespeare stage. Working under the guidance of renowned New York director Kirsten Kelly, the ensemble members will use their personal perspectives to interpret Shakespeare's story of passion, jealousy, and the ultimate consequences of vengeance.
