The Alliance Theatre commits extensive resources annually to supporting and developing new work and new artists through two nationally recognized programs - the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition and the Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab. The Alliance today announced the winner and finalists of the 16th Alliance/Kendeda Competition as well as the three projects chosen for development in the 5th annual Reiser Lab.

Early 2019 will bring GOD SAID THIS by Leah Nanako Winkler (Two Mile Hollow), directed by Morgan Gould (Kentucky); and the season will conclude in Spring 2019 with LITTLE WOMEN, written by Kate Hamill (Pride and Prejudice), based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, and directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George). Sheltered, the 14th competition winner, is the story of one American couple's harrowing decision to rescue 50 Jewish children from Europe during WWII. Sheltered is written by Alix Sobler who recently earned her MFA in Playwriting from Columbia University. During the Alliance's season-long renovation, Sheltered will be staged at Actor's Express, March 1 - 25, 2018.
