Announcing Martyna Majok as the 9th PoNY Fellow at The Lark Theatre

The Lark and Playwrights of New York (PoNY) are proud to announce that Martyna Majok, author of Ironbound, a Top Ten play for the 2014 Kilroys' list, will be the recipient of the 2015-16 PoNY Fellowship which provides over $100,000 in comprehensive career support.

BROWNSVILLE SONG Coming to Philadelphia Theatre Company, 5/1-31

Philadelphia Theatre Company continues its 40th Anniversary season with the hit of the Humana Festival brownsville song (b-side for tray) by Kimber Lee May 1-31. Co-produced with Long Wharf Theater in New Haven, CT, brownsville song (b-side for Tray) is directed by Eric Ting, and features a cast including Sung Yun Cho, Curtiss Cook, Jr., Catrina Ganey, Anthony Martinez-Briggs, and Kaatje Welsh.

Hartford Stage Names Elizabeth Williamson New Associate Artistic Director

Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak has promoted Elizabeth Williamson, currently Senior Dramaturg and Director of New Play Development for the Tony Award-winning theatre, to the position of Associate Artistic Director. She replaces Maxwell Williams, now Artistic Director of Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre in New Orleans.

Philadelphia Theatre Company's Theatre Masters Series to Continue with Tony Winner Billy Porter, 3/23

Tony and Grammy Award-winner Billy Porter continues Philadelphia Theatre Company's new Theatre Masters Series on March 23 at 7:00 PM at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). Porter will be joined in conversation by theatre historian and author John Kenrick. Launched as part of PTC's celebration of its 40th Anniversary season, Theatre Masters offers an array of Monday night on-stage interviews with major theatre artists with whom PTC has worked, each sharing personal journeys of transformation and creative growth over time and how it has impacted both art and life. The series, which launched February 16 with a sold out house for Bill Irwin, concludes with Anna Deavere Smith on May 11.

Bill Irwin to Kick Off Philadelphia Theatre Company's New THEATRE MASTERS Series, 2/16

Tony Award-winning actor and clown Bill Irwin opens Philadelphia Theatre Company's new Theatre Masters Series on February 16 at 7:00 PM at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). Irwin will be joined in his conversation by arts consultant and former Executive Director of the American Theatre Wing Howard Sherman.

VIREO: THE SPIRITUAL BIOGRAPHY OF A WITCH'S ACCUSER Opera Pilot to Be Broadcast Online and On TV, 2/23

On February 23 and 24, 2015, the pilot episode of composer Lisa Bielawa's serial opera Vireo: The Spiritual Biography of a Witch's Accuser will be videotaped at The Yost Theater in Santa Ana (307 North Spurgeon St.). Two taping sessions, each of a different scene from the opera, will be open to the public, free of charge, at 7pm on February 23 and 5pm on February 24 (limited availability, online RSVPs are required at http://bit.ly/RSVPVireo).Vireo's 25-minute pilot episode will air on March 31, 2015, and will feature the Kronos Quartet, mezzo-sopranoLaurie Rubin, the San Francisco Girls Chorus, the Orange County School of the Arts Middle School Choir, mezzo-soprano Maria Lazarova, baritone Gregory Purnhagen, drummer Matthias Bossi, and in the title role ofVireo, 16-year-old soprano Rowen Sabala.
