LaMaMa e.t.c. presents Alfred Preisser and Randy Weiner's CALIGULA MAXIMUS, a project with Hammerstein & Weiner, LLC, Christopher McElroen, Alfred Preisser and Kingsize, USA, at La MaMa's newly renamed Ellen Stewart Theatre in March 2010.

The 2009 Vivian Robinson/Audelco Recognition Awards, which recognize for Excellence in Black Theatre, have been announced. Now in thier 37th year, the awards will be presented at a ceremony at the HarlemStages/Aaron Davis Hall on Monday, November 16 at 7pm.

The 2009 National Black Theatre Festival (NBTF) is taking place Aug. 3-8 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Shows will be presented at multiple venues throughout the city. Ticket prices range from $7-$42. A NBTF Stimulus Discount Ticket Package is available.

Have you ever sat in on a production of Moliere's classic comedy Tartuffe and wondered what exactly it was about the religious services of the title character that made the wealthy Orgon want to donate everything he had to his church? Me neither. But apparently playwrights Alfred Preisser and Randy Weiner have and their answer is the Classical Theater of Harlem's crazily entertaining semi-spoof, Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe.

Performances will begin June 12th and run through July 19th only at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues).

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, and Hip-Hop Theater Festival is currently playing OBIE Winning Actress/Pulitzer-nominated playwright Eisa Davis' 'ANGELA'S MIXTAPE,' directed by Liesl Tommy.

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, and Hip-Hop Theater Festival will present the premiere of OBIE Winning Actress/Pulitzer-nominated playwright Eisa Davis' 'ANGELA'S MIXTAPE,' directed by Liesl Tommy. Ms. Davis who was recently seen on Broadway in last season's award-winning musical Passing Strange will portray herself and Linda Powell, last seen on Broadway in the Tony-nominated revival On Golden Pond, will portray her aunt, professor and activist Angela Davis. 'ANGELA'S MIXTAPE' will be performed at the Ohio Theatre, 66 Wooster Street (between Spring and Broome Streets). Previews begin Monday, April 6, and the official Opening Night will be Thursday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. Performances will run through May 2.
