Broadway legend Mandy Patinkin and opera superstar Nathan Gunn combine their vocal talents to create a unique and powerful evening at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, in the pavilion. Featured in People magazine's 2008 list of 'The Sexiest Men Alive,' baritone Gunn has performed in opera houses around the world and last appeared at Ravinia in the festival's production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. Tony and Emmy award-winner Patinkin has appeared in the Broadway productions of Evita, Sunday in the Park with George, The Wild Party, The Winter's Tale and The Knife, as well as in CBS's Chicago Hope and Criminal Minds. They will be joined by pianists Julie Gunn and Paul Ford.

Monday night marked the 300th performnce for the national tour of HAIR, now performing at Broadways St James Theatre. The Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR kicked of its first national tour at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC on October 28, 2010 (following a preview engagement in New Haven, CT) and played 20 cities around the country before heading back to Broadway for a limited 'Summer of Love' run at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). On Sunday, September 18th at 8pm, singer-songwriter Eli Bolin (I Sing!) will be presenting his original music along with guest stars Anthony Rapp (RENT), Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights), Ann Harada (Ave. Q), Greg Hildreth (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Shaina Taub (The Daughters), Allison Posner (Volleygirls), Olli Haaskivi (The Bardy Bunch) and lyricist Sam Forman.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series last night featured the American concert debut of Dutch performer Willemijn Verkaik, best known to theater lovers for originating the role of Elphaba in the German production of Wicked. Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater kicks off the second year of programming in the company's new home with the 2011/12 Season Opening Celebration September 15, 2011. The evening, which benefits Arena Stage's Community Engagement and educational programs, will include cocktails and dinner featuring the presentation of the American Artist Award to Tony and Emmy award-winning actress Leslie Uggams, followed by the highly anticipated season opening performance of Trouble in Mind by Alice Childress in the Kreeger Theater.

Cape May Stage, South Jersey's premier professional Equity theatre, begins performances of Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias tonight in anticipation of an opening tomorrow, August 4. The production will run through Saturday, September 10 at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse. BroadwayWorld has an exclusive first look at the production and below, we bring you the production photos!

Though heavily speculated since the circulation of Broadway audition notices, the New York Times has just released the news that Douglas Carter Beane's LYSISTRATA JONES will indeed head to Broadway in the fall, beginning previews at the Walter Kerr Theatre November 12, 2011 in anticipation of a December 14 opening. The production last played the basketball court of the Judson Memorial Church Gymnasium off-Broadway in Washington Square, opening on June 5. The production was presented by the Transport Group Theatre Company. The new musical features a book by Douglas Carter Beane, music and lyrics by Lewis Flinn and will be directed and choreographed by Dan Knechtges. The New York Times reports that capitalization is set at 6M for the new Broadway incarnation. Most of the off-Broadway cast wil transfer with the show.

Yesterday, July 26 at 4:00pm the stars of Broadway's new Tony Award® winning musical PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, perform some of the show's classic dance floor hits at a special live performance at The Apple Store in SoHo.
