Cleveland Play House Appoints Laura Kepley as Artistic Director

Cleveland Play House (CPH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Kepley as Artistic Director. Kepley has served as CPH Interim Artistic Director since May, following three seasons as Associate Artistic Director. The CPH Board of Directors will introduce Kepley as Artistic Director at a CPH Community Gathering at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013. The event is free, open to the general public, and will take place in the Second Stage at PlayhouseSquare.

Human Race Theatre Extends FIDDLER ON THE ROOF Through 11/30

Due to strong advanced tickets sales, The Human Race Theatre Company is adding 11 performances to the original run of Fiddler on the Roof. The run of the production is now extended through Saturday, November 30. A special Sing-A-Long concert version of the show will be presented as a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, December 1.

Cleveland Playhouse Raises Over $8,000 from '8' Benefit Performance

Cleveland Play House (CPH) raised and donated over $8,000 from its recent production of "8," Dustin Lance Black's play about the California Proposition 8 trial. The donation continues CPH's mission to serve the community, with the $8,231 shared equally between the American Foundation for Equal Rights and the Cleveland chapter of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).

Hershey Felder to Star in MAESTRO: LEONARD BERNSTEIN at Cleveland Play House

Cleveland Play House proudly presents a live summer production of Hershey Felder in Maestro: Leonard Bernstein, in the Allen Theatre at PlayhouseSquare. Mr. Felder has previously awed Cleveland audiences with his creations of Beethoven As I Knew Him, Monsieur Chopin, George Gershwin Alone, and The Great American Songbook. Maestro: Leonard Bernstein, a play with music, will run in the Allen Theatre at PlayhouseSquare starting Wednesday July 17 through Sunday, August 4, 2013. The Human Race Theatre Announces the Lineup for the 2013 Festival of New Musicals

The Human Race Theatre Company's commitment to the creation of new works takes center stage with its summer Festival of New Musicals. Producing Artistic Director Kevin Moore has selected two works by artists familiar to Human Race audiences to headline the sixth annual event-The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes and Guarding Gold Street. The productions perform in The Loft Theatre over the course of the three-day festival, the culmination of a two-week-long workshop process in which writers get the chance to further develop their musicals with the help of professional actors, then see the shows performed in staged readings.

Uptown Players Present RE-DESIGNING WOMEN, 4/5-5/19

Uptown Players presents the world premiere of Re-Designing Women, a new play by Jamie Morris, creator of The Facts Of Life: The Lost Episode, Mommie Queerest, and Silence of the Clams. This unauthorized parody of the popular 1980's sitcom runs April 5 through May 19, 2013 at the Rose Room Theater inside S4 Night Club on Cedar Springs.

The Human Race Theatre Opens RACE, 4/4

The Human Race Theatre is taking its core mission-"to present universal themes that explore the human condition and startle us all into a renewed awareness of ourselves"-to heart with David Mamet's Race. No stranger to divisive topics or candid conversation, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Mamet (American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross) takes on the explosive subject of race relations. When two cynical lawyers-one black and one white-prepare to defend a powerful white businessman accused of raping a young black woman, they must confront their own perceptions and prejudices. Legal and ethical lines are crossed as shocking revelations come to light. But when their client's case takes a series of unexpected turns, they realize that not everyone is who they seem in this world of shame and guilt.

Ringling College and Sarasota Museum of Art Announce Winners of 'Sticks and Clicks' Photography Competition

The Sarasota Museum of Art/SMOA, a division of Ringling College of Art and Design, today announced the winners of the 'Sticks and Clicks' photography competition. Created as part of SMOA's 2013 "ARTmuse" program, 'Sticks and Clicks' challenged photographers in professional, amateur and student classifications to shoot and submit creative images of renowned sculptor Patrick Dougherty's recently completed Stickworks installation, 'Out in Front'.

The Human Race Theatre Company Announces the 2013-2014 Eichelberger Loft Season

The Human Race Theatre, Dayton's only professional regional theatre company, will launch its 27th season with a richly diverse 5-play combination of productions on its Eichelberger Loft Series. "The season brings together some longtime contenders and some new works that just bubbled to the top of our list," says Producing Artistic Director Kevin Moore. "I'm very excited about this collection of shows and eager to explore the theme - family in change - that runs through each of them."

Human Race Theatre's 2012-2013 Eichelberger Loft Season continues with Alan Souza's uniquely revisionist version of Oliver!, Lionel Bart's play of an orphan who dared to ask for more. Exchanging the full orchestra of musicians and the workhouse full of children for a gifted cast of ten performers who play multiple roles, Souza reduces the story to its relevant core in a play within a play.
