Shawn 'JAY Z' Carter, Will & Jada Pinkett Smith, Ruth & Stephen Hendel, Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson and The National Theatre of Great Britain present the return of the critically acclaimed, award-winning Broadway and National Theatre of Great Britain production of Fela!, which just opened last night, July 12, for a limited run of 32 performances only at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street). Original Broadway cast member Jared Gertner will star as Elder Cunningham in the First National Tour of THE BOOK OF MORMON, launching in Denver from August 14-September 2 at The Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Gertner will join previously announced Gavin Creel as Elder Price. Samantha Marie Ware joins as Nabulungi, as well as Grey Henson as Elder McKinley and Kevin Mambo as Mafala Hatimbi.

'The Convert' opened last night, April 19 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. The show, written by Danai Gurira and directed by Emily Mann in co-production with McCarter Theatre Center and the Goodman Theatre, is a world premiere production running through May 19. Danai Gurira, Wes Craven, Rutina Wesley, L. Scott Caldwell, Ntare Mwine, Glen Mazzara, Nyambi Nyambi, Deidrie Henry, Kristolyn Lloyd, Mia Barron, Edwina Findley, Lauren Cohan and more attended opening night. Check out the photos below!

Now gracing the cover of the latest Billboard Magazine, Beyonce reveals that her upcoming ablum, entitled 4, is largely inspired by the late Fela Kuti - subject of last season's Broadway hit Fela! produced by her husband Jay-Z. The album is set for release next month.

Off-Broadway's The Play Company will feature superb entertainment by Broadway performers and succulent foods prepared by some NYC's top chefs at its 8th annual gala CABARET GOURMENT 2011, set for Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at the American Airlines Theatre Penthouse (227 W. 42 St.) in Manhattan.

Music superstar Beyonce recenlty participated in a photo shoot with L'Officiel Paris in which she channeled Fela Anikulapo-Kuti- on whom the recent Broadway musical was based. Beyonce went as far as using blackface and tribal paint in the photoshoot, and the result has certainly sparked controversy.

Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby musical, entitled SCKBSTD features Tony nominee Robert Cuccioli and is directed by Tony winner John Rando. The production will close February 6, 2011. Joining Cuccioli in SCKBSTD are Kevin Mambo, Jill Paice, William Parry, Marcus Lovett, Jayne Paterson, Brynn Williams, Riley Costello, Garrett Long, Rosa Curry, Karl Warden, EuGene Barry-Hill, and Ken Cavett.

SCKBSTD - A New Musical by Bruce Hornsby will play the final performance of its limited World Premiere engagement at Virginia Stage Company this Sunday, February 6. The production features music and lyrics by Williamsburg native and Grammy Winner Bruce Hornsby, lyrics by Chip deMatteo and book by Clay McLeod Chapman. The show is based on an original story by Bruce Hornsby.
