Original Musical WHAT'S YOUR WISH? Will Make Off-Broadway Debut At NYMF 2018

Thicket & Thistle, the New York City theater company comprised of actor-musicians who blur the lines between author, performer, and orchestra, are excited to announced that its original musical What's Your Wish? will make its Off-Broadway debut this July as part of the 2018 New York Musical Festival's Next Link Project. 

ROMEO AND JULIET Return to DC For Annual Free For All

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

5-Star Theatricals Appoints Patrick Cassidy New Artistic Director

5-STAR THEATRICALS (formerly Cabrillo Music Theatre) Board of Directors announced today that Patrick Cassidy will assume the responsibilities of Artistic Director for the critically acclaimed, award-winning organization effective immediately. Will North has resigned his position as managing director to pursue other creative opportunities. Comments 5-Star Theatricals Board Chair Bart Leininger, "On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are so excited to welcome Patrick Cassidy in his new role as Artistic Director after serving on our Executive Advisory Board for many years. Patrick brings a wealth of Broadway talent and experience to Thousand Oaks' own resident theater company. Ogunquit Playhouse to Present OKLAHOMA!

Rodgers and Hammerstein's great American classic Oklahoma! bursts onto the Ogunquit Playhouse stage June 13 to July 7. The Playhouse is thrilled to create an exciting new production of this beloved classic as part of its 75th Anniversary since first opening on Broadway. This groundbreaking musical was Rodgers and Hammerstein's first collaboration, and in many ways their most innovative, having set standards for musical theatre that are still being followed today. The lively musical features the timeless classics, 'Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin',' 'The Surrey with the Fringe On Top,' 'I Cain't Say No,' 'People Will Say We're in Love' and of course the triumphant 'Oklahoma!'

Charles Dickens' beloved orphan makes his Goodspeed debut in the hope-filled musical set in the dark shadows of Victorian London. Bounced from workhouse to forced labor, Oliver Twist escapes to the streets where he meets Fagin, the Artful Dodger and a band of child pickpockets. Will he find love, home and happiness before it's too late?

Austin Pendleton Returns To Give His Master Class At United Solo

Due to popular demand, United Solo brings back Austin Pendleton to teach in the Master Class Series on May 31, 2018 at Theatre Row in New York City. This class provides participants with the opportunity to meet, work, and be discovered by one of the most influential theatre directors. Austin Pendleton will spend time working with the participants on scenes and monologues. He will offer his critique and thoughts on participants' work, gradually trying to reach a wider evaluation of the strengths and potential of each actor. Participants are expected to bring a scene from material they are currently working on. All ages and levels of theatrical experience encouraged. Space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. "Participants of the United Solo Master Class Series have an incredible opportunity to work in a collaborative setting with industry leaders in theatre, television, and film. The nuggets of wisdom gained from these sessions, as well as the opportunity to connect with top-notch professionals, is an invaluable experience that we, as artists, can take with us for a lifetime," says Pat McAndrew, Master Class Manager at United Solo.

Award-Winning Actors Co-Op Theatre Company Presents VIOLET 

Actors Co-op Theatre Company (Ovation Award-Winner 2017 Best Play, Intimate Theatre for 33 Variations) is proud to present the Tony nominated musical VIOLET, with music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by Brian Crawley, based on the short story 'The Ugliest Pilgrim' by Doris Betts, directed by Richard Israel, produced by Thomas Chavira. Violet opens Today, May 11 at 8:00 pm, and will run through Sunday, June 17 at the Actors Co-op Crossley Theatre, 1760 N. Gower Street, 90028 (on the campus of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood) in Hollywood.

The Acting Company Presents William Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT

The Acting Company (Ian Belknap, Artistic Director; Elisa Spencer-Kaplan, Executive Director) presents William Shakespeare's beloved comedy, Twelfth Night, directed by Tony nominee Maria Aitken (The 39 Steps) with a dynamic cast of The Acting Company alumni and ensemble members of Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP). When her ship is wrecked, Viola washes ashore in the unfamiliar land of Illyria and embarks on a journey to find her lost brother. Brimming with music, love and longing, Shakespeare's enchanting play transports audiences to a world of comedic mayhem, mistaken identity and unrequited passion. This co-production with the Resident Ensemble Players comes to Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Pl, Brooklyn), May 10-27.

New Line Theatre Announces 28th Season Lineup

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," announces its 28th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the world premiere of THE ZOMBIES OF PENZANCE, Gilbert & Sullivan's newly discovered, original 'operatic abomination,' in its first ever production, running Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2018; followed by the 'family values' classic musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, running Feb. 28-March 23, 2019; and to close the season, the St. Louis premiere of the new sci-fi rock musical BE MORE CHILL, based on the bestselling novel, running May 30-June 22, 2019. All New Line's mainstage shows will be in the company's home, the Marcelle Theater, in the Grand Center Arts District.

MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE SUPER LAIR... By Greg Kalleres Gets LA Premiere At The New American Theatre

The New American Theatre (NAT) will present the Los Angeles premiere of Greg Kalleres' (Honky) comedy Meanwhile, Back at the Super Lair... at the award-winning company's new Hollywood venue. New American Theatre's artistic director Jack Stehlin directs. The production will open Saturday, May 26 and runs through Saturday, June 23. ' Super Lair' will be presented independently and then will be offered as a Hollywood Fringe Festival show.
