Lookingglass Theatre always brings thought-provoking, visually entertaining work to its stage, and its latest production fits that bill, for the most part.

Lookingglass Theatre Company continues its 28th Season with Thaddeus and Slocum: A Vaudeville Adventure, written by Ensemble Member Kevin Douglas, and co-directed by Ensemble Member J. Nicole Brooks and Krissy Vanderwarker. Thaddeus and Slocum: A Vaudeville Adventure runs June 1 - August 14, 2016 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The Press Opening is Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

The Chicago theater community will present a wide variety of plays and musicals, as well as dance and concert offerings this summer. In support, the League of Chicago Theatres will once again create a comprehensive Summer Theater Guide that will be available at hotels, theaters, events, and destinations across the Chicago area.

Black Ensemble Theater announces its 11th annual Black Playwrights Festival, April 24-27, 2016, as part of the company's Black Playwrights Initiative (BPI).

Nicole Brooks and Krissy Vanderwarker. Blood Wedding runs March 2 - April 24, 2016 with tickets on sale to the general public starting January 13, 2016. Thaddeus and Slocum runs June 1 - August 7, 2016 with tickets on sale to the general public starting April 6, 2016. The League of Chicago Theatres announces the re-launch of Theatre Thursdays for the 2015-2016 Chicago theatre season, featuring 12 world premiere plays by companies across the city. Each monthly event provides audiences with an inside look at the creative process behind new works, including exclusive access to artists. This collaborative initiative first launched in 2005 and was created to strengthen and diversify the Chicago theatre community by encouraging Chicagoans to explore new venues and companies.

Opera has long been considered at the epitome of class and sophistication. Well it's time to give up that idea as 'Jerry Springer: The Opera' has come to town from Balagan Theatre in association with Seattle Theatre Group, and they've taken the highbrow nature of Opera and defecated all over it. And guess what, it's awesome! And before you think this is just some crass parody with a lot of bathroom humor and sex jokes, well it is, but it's also a smart and meaningful show with soaring operatic performers who would (some of whom have) fit right in at Seattle Opera.
