Kevin Bush to Bring OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD to Trustus Theatre, 6/21

The Last Call Series at Trustus has brought the highly popular Plan 9 From Outer Space to the Thigpen Main Stage in 2012. Now it wraps up its season with Kevin Bush's creative cabaret evening Off the Top of My Head this summer. Bush will bring special guests Terrance Henderson, Vicky Saye Henderson, Jason Stokes, and his popular rocking brother Eddie Bush. The show will kick off on June 21, and will be performed one last time on July 12th. Doors open at 10:45pm following the evening performance of Ain't Misbehavin', and the show begins at 11:15pm. Tickets are $15.00 and are sold at the door.

Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire won the Trustus Playwrights' Festival with his script Show of Hands in 1995. He went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2007 for Rabbit Hole, which Trustus produced in 2008. Now, Trustus is bringing Linday-Abaire's newest Tony-nominated script Good People to the Thigpen Main Stage under the direction of nationally-acclaimed guest director Jim O'Connor. Good People opens tonight, March 22nd at 8:00pm, and runs through April 6th, 2013.

Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire won the Trustus Playwrights' Festival with his script Show of Hands in 1995. However, Trustus Theatre - always pursuing an opportunity to bring something fresh and different to the table - is offering a musical comedy about friends writing a musical about writing a musical. [TITLE OF SHOW] - taken from the space on a music theatre festival's application form which asks for the [title of show] - is a piece that hilariously and irreverently follows creative artists through the gauntlet of self-expression under a deadline. [TITLE OF SHOW] opens on the Thigpen Main Stage tonight, December 7th, 2012 at 8:00pm. The show runs through December 16th. After a break for the holidays, the show runs January 3rd through the 12th after Columbia rings in the New Year.

When Trustus Co-Founder Jim Thigpen directed the first Trustus show Luv in 1985, he did not know what to expect for the future of the company. Twenty-seven years later, Trustus Theatre is not only still in existence, but has grown into an institution of professional and provocative entertainment in the Midlands. In his last season as Artistic Director, Thigpen wanted his 'Swan Song' to be the Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning August: Osage County - a show that many theatre fans call one of the most breathtaking evenings they have experienced in the last 5 years. August: Osage County opens on the Trustus Main Stage at 8:00pm on Friday, October 21st.

Stephen Sondheim (Sweeny Todd, Company, Into the Woods) and John Weidman's (Pacific Overtures) Assassins opened Off-Broadway in 1990, and a new revival script was produced on Broadway in 2004 winning five Tony Awards. Now, Trustus Theatre is bringing the award-winning revival of Assassins to the Capital City with an unprecedented cast and crew in tow. Assassins will begin knocking audiences dead on March 25th at 8:00pm on the Trustus Main Stage, and the production will run through April 16th, 2011.
