According to an Equity casting notice, a New York City workshop will soon be held for DINER, a new musical inspired by the critically acclaimed 1982 film. With a book by Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Barry Levinson and music & lyrics by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, the project will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. The workshop will be held December 2-13 at Pearl Studios.

Berklee's Musical Theater Club presents Footloose: The Musical, based on the hit 1984 movie that made Kevin Bacon a star and featured chart-topping songs including "Let's Hear it for the Boy," "Almost Paradise," "Holding Out for a Hero," and the title track. It was also announced today that, at the gala, Tony Award winners Lin-Manuel Miranda and Anika Noni Rose will perform selections from Miranda's upcoming The Hamilton Mixtape, which was performed in a concert reading this past summer during the 2013 Powerhouse Season, the annual highlight of the nearly three-decades long collaboration between Vassar College and New York Stage and Film to develop works for the American theater.
