TDF Open Doors to Present 2018 Graduation

Over 400 guests including current and past New York City high school students, and the performing arts professional mentors who have participated in TDF Open Doors, the theatre arts mentoring program that TDF founded in 1998 with playwright Wendy Wasserstein, will attend this year's graduation at 5:30pm on Monday, June 4 at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (524 West 59th Street, NYC).

Signature Theatre Announces Second Extension for PARADISE BLUE

The Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; Harold Wolpert, Executive Director; James Houghton, Founder) production of Paradise Blue by Obie Award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson has been extended by a week for a second time, the company announced today. The production, which opened on May 14, will now run through June 17, 2018.

True Colors Theatre Company (Kenny Leon, Co-Founding Artistic Director) and Jujamcyn Theaters (Jordan Roth, President) are proud to announce the winners of the 10th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition that was held last night, on Monday, May 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the August Wilson Theatre (245 West 52nd Street). In first place, Gerardo Navarro from Los Angeles, in second place, Nia Sarfo from Chicago, and third place went to Teslyne Junior from New York City.

Tickets are now on sale for the Signature Theatre (Paige Evans, Artistic Director; James Houghton, Founder) New York City premiere production of Paradise Blue, by Obie Award-winning playwright Dominique Morisseau (Skeleton Crew, Pipeline) and directed by Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson (The Piano Lesson, Jitney). Paradise Blue is the first play of Morisseau's Signature Residency, which will include three productions over the course of five years.
Westport Country Playhouse Hosts Reading Of Award-Winning Drama THE WHIPPING MAN

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of the award-winning drama, "The Whipping Man" by Matthew Lopez, a tale of loyalty, deceit, and deliverance, on Monday, March 19, at 7 p.m. The reading will be directed by Anne Keefe, Playhouse associate artist and curator of the playreading series. Tickets are $20 each.

City Theatre's 2017-18 season continues with the uplifting one-man drama The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey by Academy Award-Winner James Lecesne. Keith Randolph Smith (Sunset Baby, November 2015) stars as Chuck DeSantis, a small-town detective recounting the disappearance of a gay teenager named Leonard Pelkey, and the community who helped him uncover the truth. Directed by Laura Savia, Associate Artistic Director of internationally renowned Williamstown Theatre Festival, the play runs January 20 February 18, 2018, in the Lester Hamburg Studio Theatre. Miami New Drama (MiND) at Colony Theatre opens the season with a ground-breaking production of the classic drama, Our Town. MiND's Artistic Director, Michel Hausmann, has re-envisioned Thornton Wilder's iconic tale of life, love and death in small town America for 21st century Miami, incorporating translations in Spanish by Pulitzer Prize-winner, Nilo Cruz, and in Creole by renowned playwright, Jeff Augustin. This production marks the first time that the Thornton Wilder Estate has allowed the text of this Pulitzer Prize winning drama to be altered. Our Town premieres Thursday, October 26, and runs through Sunday, November 19, at the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach).
