A tour de force of percussion and rhythm, this once in a lifetime session brings together tap dance legend Savion Glover and Jack DeJohnette, the foremost jazz drummer of our time. Orange County, Calif.-Jan. 26, 2015-The next Santa Ana Sites event is the result of what happens when a classical orchestra, Pacific Symphony, teams up with an experimental music ensemble, wild Up, and explores an eclectic mix of contemporary music at a converted warehouse turned art space in Santa Ana, called Logan Creative. Together, a dozen musicians from each ensemble form a string orchestra under the baton of Christopher Rountree, artistic director and conductor of wild Up. The concert takes place today, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m. and features music by two popular, classically trained musicians of the contemporary rock scene: "Popcorn Superhet Receiver" by Jonny Greenwood, the lead guitar player in Radiohead, and "Lachrimae" by Bryce Dessner, guitar player in the indie band The National. Other pieces on the program include Andrew Norman's "Gran Turismo," Arvo Part's "Summa," John Dowland's "Flow My Tears" and Dmitri Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony for Strings in C Minor, Op. 110a. Before the concert, Logan Creative is opening its doors at 6 p.m. to allow guests to visit the artist studios and galleries housed in the complex.

Ralph Towner, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Slava Grigoryan are acclaimed as three of the world's finest guitarists in their own fields. Although they share a common bond of being classically trained and inspired, each guitarist has a distinctive approach to composition and performance, and are all intent on expanding the guitar oeuvre having led vividly different forays into world, jazz, and modern classical music. Coming together for a one-off trio tour in Australia in 2005, they felt an instant personal and musical connection and agreed to make this an ongoing project alongside their solo careers and other collaborations.

'A Simple Truth' (FD 1009) is the latest release from two-time Grammy Award winning saxophonist Ernie Watts. Scheduled for a street date of September 30, 2014 from the artist's Flying Dolphin Records, this is the latest in a series recorded with his Ernie Watts Quartet. 'A Simple Truth' is a concept album; a journey through a 'jazz day,' starting with early morning daybreak. Watts chose LA pianist Ron Feuer to create the lush orchestral opening, 'The Sound: Morning,' and closing, 'The Sound: Evening' with Watts improvising over both pieces, which encircle the Quartet tunes.
