Contralto Avery Amereau Joins ACO In Brahms, Ries, And Schubert At Lincoln Center

On Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 8pm, American Classical Orchestra, "the nation's premier orchestra dedicated to period instrument performance" (Vulture), closes out its 2017-2018 season with the return of celebrated contralto Avery Amereau in a program of bright light and visible darkness at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. Amereau takes center stage with ACO Men's Chorus in a performance of Brahms' Alto Rhapsody, paired with Schubert's iconic Symphony No. 8 "Unfinished" and Gesang der Geister for male chorus and low strings. The program ends with a contrasting symphony by little-known composer Ferdinand Ries, a student of Beethoven in Bonn.

The word magic comes up time and again when speaking of The Unknowable.  Both Dave Liebman and Adam Rudolph use the term when describing their 'beautiful alchemy' that also included Tatsuya Nakatani, all three acclaimed artists working as one for this project. Nakatani may not have been using the word 'magic' when he refers to this trio's unique chemistry; but when he speaks of 'living life with sound spirit world,' I infer that he's pointing to the same 'voodoo of spontaneous high level musical communication' Liebman so aptly describes

American Classical Orchestra Performs Six Baroque Concerti With Violinist Stephanie Chase

On Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 8pm, American Classical Orchestra, the nation's premier orchestra dedicated to period instrument performance' (Vulture), celebrates the virtuosic violin concerti of great Baroque masters at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. The program features acclaimed violinist and expert period instrumentalist, Stephanie Chase, in six concerti: Handel's Concerto Grosso in B-flat Major, Opus 6, No. 7; J.S. Bach's Concerto for Violin in A Minor, BWV 1041; Muffat's Concerto Grosso in G Major, 'Perseverantia'; Bach's Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor, BWV 1043 with Orchestra of St. Luke's concertmaster violinist Krista Bennion Feeney; Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048; and Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins in B Minor, RV 580 with violinists Krista Bennion Feeney, Theresa Salomon, and Karen Dekker.

American Classical Orchestra Performs CPE Bach And Handel's Messiah With ACO Chorus

ACO presents Premiere of Mozart's Mass in C Minor

The American Classical Orchestra, the nation's premier orchestra dedicated to period instrument performance (Vulture), presents its first performance of Mozart's choral masterpiece, Mass in C Minor (Robert Levin edition), on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, joined by sopranos H l ne Brunet and Clara Rottsolk, tenor Brian Giebler, bass Stephen Eddy, and the ACO Chorus, led by Music Director and ACO founder Thomas Crawford. The program also includes Cherubini's rarely performed D mophoon Overture, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 8.
