Breaking News: Sting's THE LAST SHIP Sets January Closing on Broadway

THE LAST SHIP will play its final performance on Broadway on Saturday, January 24 at 8 p.m., it has been announced by the musical's producers. The Last Ship began previews on Broadway on September 29 prior to its official opening on October 26, 2014. When the show concludes its 4-month engagement, it will have played 29 preview performances on Broadway and 105 regular performances at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W. 52 St.) The Last Ship's music will live on with the Original Broadway Cast Recording, which was recently released on Universal Music Classics and debuted at #1 on Billboard's Cast Albums Chart last week.

A once-in-a-lifetime Broadway event will take place this Sunday, December 21 at 6 p.m. following the matinee performance of THE LAST SHIP when patrons are invited to meet Sting and members of the cast on stage at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W. 52 St.) as they sign copies of the recently released Original Broadway Cast Recording. 16-time Grammy Award winning musician Sting, who now stars in THE LAST SHIP (for which he also composed the score), will be joined by cast mates Michael Esper, Rachel Tucker, Jimmy Nail, Fred Applegate, Aaron Lazar, Sally Ann Triplett and Collin Kelly-Sordelet.

On the heels of the 16-time Grammy Award winner's sold-out, standing-room-only debut performance on Tuesday night, December 9, Sting's engagement in The Last Ship on Broadway has been extended through January 24, 2015, the musical's producers Jeffrey Seller and Kathryn Schenker announced. Originally scheduled to perform with the cast for five weeks, Sting will now appear for an additional two weeks in the role of Jackie White in The Last Ship at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W. 52 St.). His friend Barry Manilow just attended the musical and you can check out photos from backstage below!

Today, December 16, Universal Music Classics releases the Original Broadway Cast Album for The Last Ship, produced by the Emmy-Award winning and multi-Grammy-nominated producer Rob Mathes. The play is directed by Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello and choreographed by Olivier Award-winner Steven Hoggett, with musical direction, orchestrations and arrangements also by Rob Mathes.

THE LAST SHIP on Broadway will offer a special discount, effective immediately, for union members who present a union card when purchasing tickets at the box office at the Neil Simon Theatre, 250 W. 52 Street. 'Work is a sacrament, an outward sign of inward grace,' preaches Father O'Brien, the salty and profane priest featured in Sting's new musical, THE LAST SHIP. Producers Jeffrey Seller and Kathryn Schenker announceD that THE LAST SHIP will offer a limited number of tickets for each performance to be sold by lottery. Entries will be accepted at the box office beginning two and a half hours prior to each performance. Two hours before curtain, names will be drawn at random for a limited number of tickets priced at $30 each. Only one entry is allowed per person. Each person drawn may purchase up to two tickets. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets. Tickets must be purchased in cash. Tickets are subject to availability.

Producers Jeffrey Seller and Kathryn Schenker announce that the box office for the new musical THE LAST SHIP will open on Monday, August 25 at 10 a.m. at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52 Street), in conjunction with a special one-time-only 24-hour flash sale from midnight August 25 to midnight August 26.
