The Public Theater has announced a new writers' initiative today, PUBLIC STUDIO, which will present two new plays this spring by emerging and up-and-coming playwrights. The two plays will run in repertory from May 15 to May 25 in The Public's Shiva Theater and will be presented as pared-down productions with the low ticket price of only $10. Following in the footsteps of the acclaimed Public Lab series, PUBLIC STUDIO is conceived as a way to build on The Public's mission to support new and emerging artists and to continue making new work accessible to all audiences.

Williamstown Theatre Festival has named Mandy Greenfield as its new Artistic Director, the Festival's Board Chair Matt Harris announced today. Greenfield, who is currently Artistic Producer at Manhattan Theatre Club, succeeds Jenny Gersten beginning September 2014. As previously announced, Gersten departs Williamstown Theatre Festival in January 2014 to become Executive Director of Friends of the Highline. Gersten will program the upcoming 2014 season, and Williamstown Theatre Festival Producer Stephen Kaus will oversee the season. Greenfield's tenure as Artistic Director will begin immediately following the 2014 season, the Festival's 60th.

Following critically acclaimed, smash-hit runs at The Hartford Stage and San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murders tars Tony Award Winner Jefferson MaysandBryce Pinkham, and features Lisa O'Hare, Lauren Worsham, Jane Carr, Pamela Bob,Joanna Glushak, Eddie Korbich, Jeff Kready, Mark Ledbetter, Jennifer Smith, Price Waldman, and Catherine Walker. Tony Award nominee Craig Lucas' acclaimed play RECKLESS returns to New York on October 28h, 2013 at 8pm for a one-night only benefit reading in the Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street), directed by Kate Whoriskey (Ruined) and featuring an all-star cast. All proceeds will benefit Safe Horizon(www.safehorizon.org), 'the largest organization of its kind in the United States that helps victims overcome crisis and become survives as they restore their lives'. The evening is produced by The Indigo Theatre Project (Nick Gereffi and Rachel Sussman, Co-Founding Artistic Directors), a theater company that strives to unite passion with purpose by producing high-profile readings of notable plays to benefit charities aligned with the work being read. The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) presents the world premiere of Fun Home, directed by Sam Gold. Featuring music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, and based on Alison Bechdel book, Fun Home will run through Sunday, November 17. Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that due to overwhelming demand, THE COMMONS OF PENSACOLA, the world premiere play currently in rehearsals at MTC, is extending an additional three weeks. The limited engagement, which begins previews on Tuesday, October 22 in advance of a Thursday, November 21 opening at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street), must close on Sunday, January 26. This is the last possible extension for the production.

AMY HERZOG, a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her acclaimed play 4000 Miles, has joined the cast of the forthcoming benefit reading of Craig Lucas's play RECKLESS on October 28th, directed by Kate Whoriskey (Ruined).
