Karrin Allyson to Release 'MANY A NEW DAY' in September

Four-time Grammy nominee, singer/pianist Karrin Allyson, has confirmed the 9/18 release of 'Many a New Day (Karrin Allyson Sings Rodgers & Hammerstein)'. The 14-song collection features Allyson's romantic, sly and swinging take on songs that have become part of our cultural fabric, from 'Oh, What a Beautiful Morning' to 'Happy Talk' to 'I Cain't Say No' and numerous others. A full track listing follows. The collection, which marks the singer's debut on the Motéma label, features the distinctive pairing of Kenny Barron on piano and John Patitucci on bass (only the second time the two have recorded together.)

Martinis Above Fourth Table Presents SACHA SINGS SINATRA Tonight

Tonight, June 12 at 8:00 PM, Martinis Above Fourth Table + Stage in San Diego and Sher Krieger Events are presenting Sacha in 'Sacha Sings Sinatra.' Grammy-nominated Jazz recording artist Sacha Boutros will sing a selection of Sinatra songs including his biggest hits and other favorites from the extensive Frank Sinatra catalogue. San Diego-native Boutros and her fabulous musicians are set to dazzle the audience with a night of everything Francis Albert. This will be a fun and entertaining show by one of today's top Jazz artists as Sacha does it 'her way!'

Explore the warmth and depth of an artist who engages with a range of music from Gershwin and Porter to Duke and Thelonious. The evening will feature songs from Karrin's vast career as well as from her newest release, Round Midnight.

The NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL is turning 60! Founded in 1954 by George Wein, the jazz promoter and producer considered the “most famous jazz impresario,” the NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL has become a staple of the jazz community since its inception in Newport, Rhode Island. 2014 marks the 60th anniversary of this legendary, premier annual jazz festival in America. In celebration, a worldwide tour is bringing their jazz stylings to the international public.

NEWPORT JAZZ FESTIVAL: NOW 60 to Play Jazz Standard, 3/4-8

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the world-renowned Newport Jazz Festival (August 1-3, 2014), the 'Newport Jazz Festival: Now 60' Tour makes a stop in New York City at the Jazz Standard, 116 East 27th Street, March 4-8. Featuring clarinetist/saxophonist Anat Cohen, vocalist/pianist Karrin Allyson, bassist Ben Allison, pianist Peter Martin, guitarist Mark Whitfield, trumpeter Randy Brecker and drummer Clarence Penn, the band has been receiving rave reviews since it kicked off a 17-city tour on February 8 in Atlanta. The first leg of the tour winds down March 30 and will continue with more dates during June, July and August in North America and Europe (including a set at its namesake festival on August 2).

60th Newport Jazz Festival Set for Merriam Theater, 3/9

The iconic festival, Newport Jazz Festival, turns 60 and takes the show on a road with Philadelphia performance and debut at the Merriam Theater on Sunday, March 9 at 8 p.m. The Newport Jazz Festival: Now 60 pays homage to jazz luminaries such as Billie Holiday, Dizzie Gillespie, and Duke Ellington, whose classic jazz standards where first recorded at the festival, reinterpreted through the lens of contemporary jazz artists. The program also provides a progressive exploration of global jazz with Brazilian, Gypsy, Latin influences.
