Pat Catterson's NOW. Installation Event Set for NYU Tisch Later This Month

NOW. is a multimedia / performance / installation event directed and choreographed by Pat Catterson in collaboration with dance media artist Paul Galando and presented by NYU Tisch Dance and New Media Department on Saturday and Sunday, January 30 & 31, 2016 at 12 Noon. This immersive performance captures dancers in single moments in time and place performing simultaneously both in real and virtual time.

ODC Theater to Present West Coast Debut of Compagnie Herve Koubi, 1/22-23

ODC Theater has announced that it will present the West Coast debut of Compagnie Herve Koubi. The celebrated French-Algerian company kicks off ODC's 2016 season with What the Day Owes to the Night, a work of acrobatic dance for twelve men. Combining elements of capoeira, martial arts, urban and contemporary dance, What the Day Owes to the Night runs Friday to Saturday, January 22 - 23 at 8:00 pm.

Boston Ballet to Present Mikko Nissinen's THE NUTCRACKER, Today

November 16, 2015—(Boston, MA) Delighting audiences of all ages with a sense of youthful imagination, Mikko Nissinen's The Nutcracker returns to the Boston Opera House from November 27–December 31, 2015. Celebrated as “elegant and theatrically striking,” this completely re-imagined production premiered in 2012 and has received praise from audiences and critics alike (The New York Times). With “sleek, bejeweled costumes and spacious, regal sets” by Robert Perdziola and all-new lighting design by Finnish-based Mikki Kunttu, this timeless holiday classic features the full company of 68 dancers along with more than 200 Boston Ballet School students (Thea Singer, The Boston Globe).

Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo to Perform American Premiere of CHORE at Segerstrom Center, 2/11/16

COSTA MESA, CA – Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes the return of Les Ballets de Monte- Carlo February 11 – 13, 2016 with another American premiere: Jean-Christophe Maillot's Choré, featuring music by Danny Elfman and John Cage. Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo appears at the Center under the Presidency of H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover. This marks the Ballets' third visit to the Center, having previously brought the Southern California premiere the company's Cinderella and the American premiere of LAC.

'Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler' Runs thru 11/1 at Boston Opera House

Boston Ballet kicks off its 52nd season with Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler: A Ballet by John Neumeier. Captivating audiences with intensity and passion, Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler has been critically acclaimed as “a work of genius” (Clive Barnes, New York Post). Boston Ballet becomes only the fourth company in the world—after Hamburg Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet and Royal Swedish Ballet—to present Neumeier's iconic work. Boston Ballet is also the first North American company to perform it. A musical tour-de-force, Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler: A Ballet by John Neumeier will feature the Boston Ballet Orchestra along with New World Chorale, Greater Boston's premiere choral ensemble, as well as accomplished American soprano and international opera singer Sarah Pelletier. Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler will run from October 22 to November 1, 2015 at the Boston Opera House.

Lincoln Center's White Light Festival 2015 to Kick Off Today

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced the schedule for Lincoln Center's sixth White Light Festival, running from October 14 through November 22, 2015. The multidisciplinary Festival, which takes its name from a quotation by the Estonian composer Arvo Part, is focused on the remarkable power of art to reveal the many dimensions of our interior lives. Spanning numerous musical traditions, genres, and disciplines, the Festival will offer 26 performances and events, featuring one world and five U.S. premieres and debuts by artists and companies from the United States, the U.K., Croatia, Belgium, France, and Ireland. Other Festival components include pre- and post-performance artist discussions, a panel discussion, film, and the popular post-performance White Light Lounges, where performers and audience members can gather.

BalletCollective to Premiere Two New Troy Schumacher Ballets, 11/4

New York, NY (September 17, 2015), BalletCollective will present two world premieres ballets by Troy Schumacher on November 4 and 5, 2015 at NYU Skirball Center, 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square. The new works were inspired by separate series of commissioned photographs by Paul Maffi and Dafy Hagai, with commissioned scores by music director and resident composer Ellis Ludwig-Leon (San Fermin) and Mark Dancigers (NOW Ensemble).

Opera Saratoga's 2016 Summer Festival to Include U.S. Premiere of WITCHES OF VENICE and More

Lawrence Edelson, Artistic and General Director of Opera Saratoga, announced today the program for the 2016 Summer Festival, which will run from May 28th through July 17, 2016. The season will feature three new productions, along with a diverse slate of recitals, concerts and master classes at multiple locations in Saratoga Springs, New York. Included in the lineup is Italian opera, WITCHES OF VENICE, which will make its U.S. premiere next summer as part of the festival.

ODC Theater to Present RESIDENT ARTISTS UNPLUGGED, 8/30

ODC Theater, one of the West Coast's major centers for contemporary dance and performance, announced today its newest class of resident artists: Gerald Casel, Maurya Kerr, Nicole Klaymoon, and the duo of Sheldon B. Smith and Lisa Wymore. The announcement of these five distinguished artists falls on the ten-year anniversary of ODC Dance Commons, whose upstairs Studio B will serve as venue for a one-night-only event offering a rare and candid look into the creative process of the new resident artists. Titled Resident Artists Unplugged, the event takes place Sunday, August 30 at 6pm.
