The Bushwick Starr Presents PHIL. 176/OBIT by Daniel Fish and Andrew Dinwiddle, Now thru 4/5

The Bushwick Starr is proud to present multi-disciplinary artists Daniel Fish and Andrew Dinwiddie confronting a monumental subject - DEATH - with a staggering amount of raw material. PHIL. 176 / OBIT is an episodic performance installation drawing simultaneously on the text of Shelly Kagan's renowned Yale College philosophy course, 'PHIL 176: Death,'* and on current American obituaries and death notices.

David Neumann to Premiere New Solo Works at MASS MoCA's Hunter Center, 4/26

Interdisciplinary choreographer David Neumann will present an evening of solos April 26 at 8pm at MASS MoCA's Hunter Center for the Performing Arts. A co-presentation by Jacob's Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA, the retrospective evening spans Neumann's career from his first choreographic endeavor, DOSE, to his current work-in-progress, I Understand Everything Better. The program, also including tough the tough (redux) (2008) and You Are In Control (2009), captures Neumann's exploration of lines between theatre and dance, audience and performer, movement and voice, mundane and theatrical.

The Bushwick Starr will present a collaboration between stage and film director Daniel Fish and dance and theater artist Andrew Dinwiddie. Using nearly seven weeks of residency time at the Bushwick Starr, and in collaboration with actor T. Ryder Smith (War Horse, Passion Play) and designers Blanca Añon (ETERNAL, Owned) and Daniel Kluger (Nikolai and the Others, A Map of Virtue), they will create PHIL. 176 / OBIT, an episodic performance installation that draws simultaneously on the text of Shelly Kagan's renowned Yale College philosophy course, 'PHIL 176: Death,'* and on current American obituaries and death notices.

The Ensemble guides the audience through an exploration of the terrains of their individual memories that unfolds into an impressionistic film of the audience's collective narrative, using Anonymous Ensemble's signature real-time video wizardry. Each performance is a unique event.

The show runs tonight, October 24 - November 2, 2013.
