Mary Zimmerman & Author John D. Spooner to be Honored at 2014 Spotlight Spectacular, 4/28

Best-selling author, investment manager, and Huntington Theatre Company Trustee John D. Spooner and Mary Zimmerman, the visionary and acclaimed director of the Huntington's recent productions of The Jungle Book and Candide, will be honored with the Wimberly Award at the 2013 Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient's 2014 Spotlight Spectacular on Monday, April 28, 2014.

Debra Messing Picks Up Lead in NBC's Greg Berlanti Drama Pilot

Debra Messing has landed the lead role in NBC drama pilot “The Mysteries of Laura,” Variety has confirmed. Messing will play Detective Laura Diamond, a female homicide detective who can handle criminals — but not her hell-raising twin children.

Pittsburgh CLO Announces 2014 Summer Season Creative Team

Pittsburgh CLO has announced the creative team for the 2014 Summer Season at the Benedum Center. This group of Pittsburgh CLO veterans and exciting newcomers will leave audiences singing all summer long with Broadway's best! The season includes Singin' in the Rain (May 30-June 8), Legally Blonde The Musical (June 13-22), Footloose (June 24-29), the National Tour of Evita (July 8-13), CATS (July 18-27) and Monty Python's Spamalot (July 29-August 3).

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Announces 45th Anniversary Season

Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han have announced plans for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's 45th anniversary season. The 2014-2015 Season offers an extraordinarily vibrant palette of diverse and innovative programming performed by a vast and impressive roster comprised of 109 of the world's finest chamber music artists. The season begins on October 15, 2014, and runs through May 15, 2015. Performances take place in Alice Tully Hall, the Rose Studio, and the Kaplan Penthouse.

The Pacific Northwest Ballet's 2014-2015 Season Includes JEWELS, DON QUIXOTE and More

Artistic Director Peter Boal has announced to subscribers the line-up for Pacific Northwest Ballet's 2014-2015 season. Highlights include a program devoted to the work of acclaimed choreographer William Forsythe; the return of popular works by George Balanchine, Alexei Ratmansky, David Dawson, and Nacho Duato; a world premiere by New York City Ballet's Justin Peck, a PNB premiere by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa; and a fond farewell to the Northwest's favorite holiday tradition, Kent Stowell and Maurice Sendak's Nutcracker. (PNB will unveil a new production of George Balanchine's The Nutcracker with sets and costumes by Ian Falconer in 2015.)

TriArts Sharon Playhouse, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Simpkins and Managing Director Justin Ball, celebrates its 25thAnniversary Season with the award-winning musicals Les Miserables and Falsettos, along with Disney's The Little Mermaid, on the Mainstage. Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie and the new musical Nine Wives (by Douglas J. Cohen and Dan Elish) will play Stage 2 in the Bok Gallery. The Youth Theatre will present the Tony-winning Spring Awakening.

SPRING AWAKENING to Run 2/28-3/8 at Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

Five-time Tony Award-winning lighting designer, Brian MacDevitt, and internationally acclaimed choreographers, Sara Pearson and Patrik Widrig, direct Spring Awakening, the multi-layered rock musical that explores the coming-of-age of a group of teenagers living in a 19th century German village, February 28- March 8 at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. Based on Frank Wedekind's 1891 controversial play of the same title, Spring Awakening epitomizes the struggle between repressive patriarchy and the purity of nature and delves deep into issues surrounding abuse, pregnancy, sexuality and suicide- all subjects relevant to contemporary life.

Making Books Sing to Present DEAR ALBERT EINSTEIN this Spring

Set in 1954, DEAR ALBERT EINSTEIN tells the story of Susan, a 12-year-old star math student who, when starting junior high, struggles between the desire to be herself and the pressure to be like all of the other girls in her class. Her admiration for Einstein, who periodically pops up in her imagination, complicates and eventually helps her along her journey. The musical combines early rock-n-roll, swing, and classical music.
