Lincoln Center Launches Big Umbrella Festival Dedicated to Arts Programs for Young Audiences on Autism Spectrum

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts announced today the lineup for the Big Umbrella Festival, an international endeavor that brings together arts professionals and thought leaders, and offers performances across New York City for children on the autism spectrum. Kicking off in April 2018, during Autism Awareness Month, the festival is the first of its kind dedicated to arts programs for young people on the autism spectrum and their families.

Showtime Orders Second Season of THE CHI

SHOWTIME has renewed its hit drama series THE CHI for a second season, it was announced today by Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks Inc. Created and executive produced by Emmy Award winner Lena Waithe (Master of None) and executive produced by Academy Award®, Emmy and Golden Globe® winner Common (Selma), THE CHI explores the humanity behind the headlines sensationalizing the South Side of Chicago. Ayanna FloydDavis (Empire, Hannibal) has signed on for season two as executive producer and showrunner. Produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, the series will go back into production in Chicago later this year.

LOST LAUGHS: THE SLAPSTICK TRAGEDY OF FATTY ARBUCKLE Premieres At MRT

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) is proud to present the world premiere of Lost Laughs: The Slapstick Tragedy of Fatty Arbuckle, written by Andy Bayiates and Aaron Muñoz, directed by Nathan Keepers, with performances February 14 - March 11, 2018, at the Nancy L. Donahue Theatre located at 50 East Merrimack Street in historic downtown Lowell. In addition, MRT is hosting a panel discussion on the historical context of Lost Laughs titled "Women's Rights, Prohibition, and the Fall of Fatty," on Thursday, March 1, immediately after the 7:30 pm show (details below).

New Hampshire Theatre Project Presents Second Elephant-in-the-Room Series

The second event in New Hampshire Theatre Project's provocative new Elephant-in-the-Room Series of playreadings and community discussion will focus on the topic of Mental Illness, featuring a performance of Snap! by guest artist Regi Carpenter. Regi has toured her solo shows and workshops in theaters, festivals and schools, nationally and internationally. She is the recipient of many awards, including Storytelling World, Parent's Choice, and Parents' Guide to Children's Media Award. Her stories have been featured on Sirius Radio, Apple Seed Radio, The Moth, and NPR. Snap! is a winner of the Boston StorySlam.
