The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced today the 40 nominees for the 2012-13 season. Announced at a press conference by members of The Bessies Selection Committee, the nominations (listed below) were made by an independent committee of 38 dance industry professionals. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Production, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Visual Design, Outstanding Composition or Sound Design and Outstanding Revived Work.

New York City Ballet Presents Fall Gala - Three World Premieres, Costumes by Iris van Herpen, Prabal Gurung & More, 9/19

New York City Ballet's annual Fall Gala will celebrate dance and fashion with three world premiere ballets, and costumes designed by some of the fashion world's most exciting talents. The one-time-only gala evening will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2013, and this year's participants include choreographers Benjamin Millepied, in collaboration with the Dutch designer Iris van Herpen; Justin Peck, who will create a new ballet featuring costumes by the acclaimed New York-based fashion designer Prabal Gurung; and Angelin Preljocaj, who will work with Olivier Theyskens, the Belgian-born designer who is the Artistic Director of the American fashion house Theory.

New York City Center Celebrates the 10th Anniversary Season of the FALL FOR DANCE FESTIVAL in September

New York City Center is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Fall for Dance Festival with a very special season, beginning with two FREE evenings of dance at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, hosted by The Public Theater, onSeptember 16 and 17 (Rain date, September 18). The Festival will continue at City Center from September 25 ­ October 5 with performances by 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world, including three new works from today¹s most exciting young choreographers, commissioned by City Center, in celebration of the tenth anniversary, all for the low ticket price of $15. The Festival¹s many free pre-show events will include dance lessons and panels by choreographers, artists and dance educators. Tickets will go on sale Sunday, September 8 at 11 a.m.

New York City Ballet's 2013-14 Season at Lincoln Center will feature performances of 50 ballets in celebration of New York City Ballet's 50th anniversary at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, which has been the Company's home since the New York State Theater (now the David H. Koch Theater) opened in April of 1964.

BalletCollective to Present World Premiere at The Joyce Theatre

Troy Schumacher, Director of BalletCollective (formerly Satellite Ballet) today announced that the company will make its Joyce Theater debut on August 14 and 15 with a program that will include a world premiere collaboration between Schumacher, composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone, poet Cynthia Zarin and new music ensemble ACME, as well as a revised version of the company's Epistasis (2012). In other news, seven company dancers will be featured in the spring issue of Carine Roitfeld's new high gloss magazine, CR Fashion Book. An online film featuring dancers Ashley Laracey, Lauren King, David Applebaum and Taylor Stanley will be released in conjunction with the magazine release.

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) presents "Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow" on Friday, April 27 at 7:00 PM at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. This annual event has become synonymous with the discovery of new dancers, choreographers, and companies, featuring the performances of international ballet stars and introducing the world's brightest young dance talent -- finalists from the 2012 competition. The evening's program includes world premieres choreographed by Ji?i Buben??ek, Marcelo Gomes, and Justin Peck, and NYC debuts by Yonah Acosta and Friedemann Vogel, and performances by a select group of 2012 YAGP finalists, plus celebrity masters of ceremonies Ana Gasteyer (SNL) and Brian d'Arcy James (Shrek the Musical, Next to Normal, Smash). Tickets for the performance are $45, $75, $100, $150.
