2015 Bessie Award Winners Announced!

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced the complete list of 2015 award recipients tonight at the 31st Annual Bessie Awards ceremony. BWW Review: NEW YORK CITY BALLET Serves up a Five-Course Feast of Ballets to the Music of American Composers

There may be no better way to chase the gloom of an unseasonably chilly and wind-whipped evening in NYC than to watch New York City Ballet's delightfully varied quintuple-bill entitled "Americana X Five". On October 2nd 2015, with Hurricane Joaquin's approach bringing on a gusty downpour, I was among the lucky dancegoers at the Koch Theater in Lincoln Center who enjoyed one of the best programs the company has offered in a long time. If you'll be in town through October 7th, don't miss the chance to see the works of four very different choreographers set to the equally wide-ranging works of a talented handful of American composers.

BWW Review: An Excting Evening with FALL FOR DANCE 2015 PROGRAM ONE

This past Wednesday kicked off the 12th edition of the annual Fall for Dance Festival, which will feature 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world at the New York City Center. Fall for Dance is a two-week festival that has become a cultural staple here in New York-a commitment to making dance accessible to everyone by providing an opportunity for audiences to enjoy a wide array of artists from around the globe at a affordable price. This year's festival will consist of five unique programs, in addition to several pre-show events which include dance lessons and panel discussions with choreographers, artists, and dance educators.

The National YoungArts Foundation today announces a dynamic roster of public programs for its 35th anniversary season encompassing a series of new performances, showcases, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary collaborations across a broad range of art forms-from the organization's first resident dance company Complexions Contemporary Ballet; and "Pairings at Ted's," a new dinner and performance  series; to site-specific installations and public discussions with creative leaders such as Daniel Arsham, Franklin Sirmans and Fab 5 Freddy. Seven World Premieres and More Highlight New York City Ballet's 2015-16 Season

New York City Ballet will open its 2015-16 Season at Lincoln Center tonight, September 22 with eight performances of Peter Martins' production of Tschaikovsky's Swan Lake, through Tuesday, September 29, to launch the Company's 2015 Fall Season, which will continue for four weeks through Sunday, October 18.

Chicago Dancing Festival Kicks Off 9th Annual Event Today

The Chicago Dancing Festival, the nation's largest dance festival, presents its 9th annual series with George Balanchine's Allegro Brilliante (performed by Miami City Ballet in its Chicago Dancing Festival debut), Mark Morris' Sandpaper Ballet (Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, 2015 Festival debut), Justin Peck's In Creases (Chicago's The Joffrey Ballet), Gustavo Ramírez Sansano's El Beso (Ballet Hispanico, 2015 Festival debut) and Twyla Tharp's Sweet Fields (Miami City Ballet) among program highlights. This year's event will take place at Chicago's top downtown venues - the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park - this week, August 25-29, 2015.
