The Music Center Sets 2016-17 Dance Season

Reinforcing the role of The Music Center as a major hub for dance in Los Angeles, The Music Center's powerful new dance season will engage both dance lovers and those new to the art form by challenging preconceived notions of classical ballet and exploring the realm of contemporary expression. The 2016-2017 season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center (Dance at The Music Center) will provide the platform for some of the finest U.S. dance companies and artists along with internationally renowned companies who are among the most requested by Music Center audiences. This coming season opens with Celebrate Forsythe (October 21-23, 2016) as three American ballet companies - San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Houston Ballet - perform in one program in a never-before-seen approach to salute one of America's top choreographers, William Forsythe. The season continues with the distinctive contemporary work of Jessica Lang Dance (February 17-19, 2017); the return of the much-in-demand Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (March 8-12, 2017); the west coast premiere of Scottish Ballet's A Streetcar Named Desire (May 19-21, 2017); Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg's exploration of the passions of Tchaikovsky (June 23-25, 2017); and an original program curated by New York City principal ballerina Tiler Peck with the return of The Music Center's BalletNow (July 28-30, 2017). A number of the engagements will be integrated with arts education programs including high school performances and teacher workshops. Center Dance Arts is the founding supporter of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center.

New York City Ballet Spring Performances Kick Off in April

Today at Lincoln Center, New York City Ballet begins its Spring Season rehearsal period with the Company's 90 plus roster of dancers preparing 24 different works from its unparalleled repertory for six weeks of performances, April 19 through May 29, at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.

Northrop at the University of Minnesota to Present Miami City Ballet, 4/27

Northrop at the University of Minnesota presents Miami City Ballet with a full live orchestra on Wednesday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m, marking the finale to the 2015//16 season. The sizzling company returns to Northrop for the first time since 2010 with a program as vibrant and intoxicating as their namesake city featuring a Balanchine-based repertory that Le Monde says, 'gives goose bumps to fans of dance,' and Heatscape, by wunderkind choreographer Justin Peck. Northrop's 2016//17 Dance season announcement and an audience reception will follow the performance.

Miami City Ballet to Perform at Harris Theater, 4/29-30

Miami City Ballet makes its Harris Theater Presents debut during its 30th Anniversary Season. Performing two distinct programs over two evening engagements, ballet greats from George Balanchine to ballet's current choreographic sensation Justin Peck are celebrated. The company will be accompanied by the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra in both performances on April 29 and April 30 at 7:30 PM.

On March 8, 2016, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced that the upcoming 2016-17 season will honor the late President Kennedy's centennial birthday with an array of partnerships and performances inspired by the ideals that inspired John F. Kennedy himself: Courage, Freedom, Justice, Service and Gratitude. Kennedy Center President Deborah Rutter highlighted the responsibility everyone at the Kennedy Center feels to offer a fully inclusive calendar of events that engage the artistic community, the public and society at large in the broad spectrum of the arts.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced programming for the 2016–2017 season for the Center, the National Symphony Orchestra, and Washington National Opera. Under President Deborah F. Rutter's continued leadership, the Kennedy Center is re-imagining ways of presenting the arts in the 21st century through interdisciplinary programming, immersive audience engagement, and a focus on artist-centric programming. The 2016–2017 season includes significant and institution-wide initiatives from the yearlong celebration marking the Centennial of John F. Kennedy's birth, to three newly appointed Artistic Partners who will lead these artistic and community initiatives (Yo-Yo Ma, Rene?e Fleming, and Q-Tip), and the support of American programming. With more than 2,000 performances across many artistic genres, the Center continues its tradition as the nation's center for the performing arts, commissioning, producing, and presenting the finest of local, national, and international arts. The 2016–2017 season includes 25 commissioned or co-commissioned works and projects across the Center's full range of artistic disciplines.

The Kennedy Center to Welcome New York City Ballet, 3/1-6

New York City Ballet returns to the Kennedy Center for their annual engagement, March 1-6, 2016, performing two exciting and distinctively different programs of repertory, including the D.C. premiere of NYCB Resident Choreographer and Soloist Justin Peck's first narrative work, The Most Incredible Thing and a staging of August Bournonville's La Sylphide by Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins, as well as additional works by George Balanchine, August Bournonville, and Christopher Wheeldon. All performances will be accompanied by the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra.

This summer New York City Ballet will return to Paris, France for the first time since 2008, for three weeks of performances at the The?a?tre du Cha?telet -- June 28 through July 16, 2016. The engagement will mark the 12th edition of Les Ete?s de la Danse, the annual summer dance festival that since 2005 has presented international dance companies for three weeks of performances in the French capital, and will also mark the tenth time that NYCB has performed in Paris since the Company's founding in 1948.
