Miami City Ballet to Perform in World-Class Cultural Festivals in the U.S. and France

Miami City Ballet, one of the country's premier ballet companies, is proudly looking ahead to upcoming performances with two world-class cultural festivals. In May, the company will open Charleston's 42nd Spoleto Festival USA before traveling to Paris for performances with the prestigious Les Etes de la Danse Festival.

Works & Process At The Guggenheim Presents A NEW CAROUSEL With Jack O'Brien And Justin Peck

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents A New Carousel with Jack O'Brien and Justin Peck on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 7:30pm. Rodgers & Hammerstein's timeless musical returns to Broadway for the first time in over two decades. The new production features choreography by New York City Ballet's Justin Peck and direction by Jack O'Brien.

Tickets Available Today for Spoleto Festival USA

Tickets for the 42nd season of Spoleto Festival USA go on sale to the public today at 10:00am. Tickets can be purchased anytime at spoletousa.org or by phone at 843.579.3100, Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 6:00pm. On-site box office operations will be located at the Charleston Gaillard Center beginning May 1; tickets may then be purchased in person Monday through Sunday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

New World Symphony Celebrates 30 Years In Annual New Work Event

Now celebrating its 30th anniversary, the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy (NWS), presents its seventh annual New Work performance on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the New World Center. New Work is dedicated to commissioning and premiering new pieces from high-profile and developing artists across a range of genres, exploring intersections between music, theater, dance, poetry, video, lighting, and other art forms. This year's program opens with a world premiere, multidisciplinary performance of selections from Glimpse of the Big Picture, conceived, scored, and authored by NWS Artistic Director/Co-Founder Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT). Divided into three parts, the performance brings music together with the spoken word, featuring MTT as speaker. The 2018 New Work program also includes two NWS commissions: composer Ted Hearne and filmmaker Jonathan David Kane's 2017 crowdsourced, multimedia symphony, Miami in Movements, in a revised version; and the world premiere of The Inherent Sadness of Low-Lying Areas, a short play by playwright Christopher Wall featuring music by a variety of composers, from Bach to Saariaho.

CAROUSEL Box Office Opens Today at 10am

The box office of the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street) opens today at 10 a.m. for Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical Carousel. Simultaneously, a cast of 39 assembles for the first day of rehearsal under the direction of three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien and choreography by Justin Peck for this most deeply anticipated production of the new season which begins preview performances on Wednesday, February 28 and officially opens on Thursday, April 12.

Boston Ballet Announces February BB@home Programs

Boston Ballet proudly presents two BB@home programs in February at Boston Ballet's South End headquarters (19 Clarendon Street) in an intimate, black box theater setting. On February 15 and 16 at 7:30 pm, audiences will get an exclusive preview of the Parts In Suite program which will be performed March 9 April 7 at the Boston Opera House. Prior to that, Boston Ballet II (BBII), the second company of Boston Ballet, will present an array of works on February 1 and 2 at 7:30 pm.

Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, presents an encore of choreographer Jodi Melnick's sold-out 2016 commission, NEW BODIES. This Works & Process commissioned work weaves together dance, spoken text, and moderated discussion with live music, featuring New York City Ballet dancers Jared Angle, Sara Mearns, and Taylor Stanley in a role originated by Gretchen Smith, with harpsichord by composer Gy rgy Ligeti, violin by composer Heinrich Biber, and commissioned music by Robert Boston.Also, Melnick, who enjoyed a performance career with Twyla Tharp (among many others), will perform One of Sixty-Five Thousand Gestures, a solo work created in collaboration with the late Trisha Brown.
