To celebrate Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday Melbourne Recital Centre and Magnormos are proud to present 'A Sondheim Triptych' to be performed at Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. Sondheim is widely regarded as the most influential writer in Broadway history, with major works including WEST SIDE STORY, GYPSY, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, COMPANY, SWEENEY TODD, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC and INTO THE WOODS. Hidden away in the tiny basement that is London's Jermyn Street Theatre is a new production of a relatively unknown gem of a show - Saturday Night - with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Casablanca screenwriters, Philip G. and Julius J. Epstein. And in the intimate theatrical world created for the piece by director Tom Littler the gem glistens and gleams with delight.
John Rubinstein, Michael York and opera star Suzanna Guzman will join Anne Heche, Christian Slater and other stars in the October 2nd LA Actors' Fund benefit reading of Casablanca
Known for films such as American Beauty, Birch will play Anina Brandel in the October 2nd reading.
Heche and Slater will head up an all-star cast in a reading at the Pantages theater at 4:00pm on Sunday October 2nd.
