MovEnt to Hit the Town with New, Civic-Minded 'Community Stages' Project

This spring, MovEnt brings the act of collective artistic creation into five Vancouver Community Centres with the launch of Community Stages. Running now through May 30, 2014, the inaugural project pairs local professional dancers and musicians to openly collaborate and develop works at gathering spaces across the city.

La MaMa, in association with Monk Parrots, proudly presents the World Premiere of Bum Phillips All-American Opera, a new contemporary opera conceptualized and directed by Luke Leonard, composed and conducted by Peter Stopschinski, with a libretto by Kirk Lynn. Bum Phillips All-American Opera runs from March 12 - 30, 2014 in a limited engagement at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre, located at 66 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue & the Bowery in New York City. The Little Opera Theatre of NY announces its Winter 2014 production of Gioachino Rossini's one-act rarity, Opportunity Makes the Thief (L'occasione fa il ladro, ossia Il cambio della valigia ). Eight performances will be presented from February 22 through March 2, 2014 at 59E59 Theaters (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). Performance times are 8:15 pm for Fridays and Saturdays, including February 22, February 28, and March 1; 7:15 pm for Tuesday-Thursday performances, including February 25, 26, 27, and 3:15 pm for two Sunday matinees, February 23, and March 2.
