Fashion designer Alfred Fiandaca, 72, passed away from a stroke on Saturday morning. Fiandaca creations for Ann Romney garned positive press when she wore them on the campaign trail last fall. His classic and flattering designs appealed to a variety of political wives including Nancy Reagan, Lady Bird Johnson, Muriel Humphrey, Kitty Dukakis and Joan Kennedy. He designed for Audrey Hepburn and Julie Andrews, too.

Stage Veteran Garrett Lewis Passes Away at 77

Garrett Lewis, four time Academy Award nominated set decorator, dancer and actor, died Tuesday, January 29 at the age of 77. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1935 and died at his home in Woodland Hills, California of natural causes.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly leads vocalist Ashley Brown in a performance of beloved Broadway hits on Thursday, February 21 at 8 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore and Friday, February 22 at 8 p.m., Saturday, February 23 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Ms. Brown, known as Broadway's original Mary Poppins, will perform popular Broadway selections including "Make Someone Happy," "A Spoon Full of Sugar," "Le Jazz Hot," "Defying Gravity" from Wicked and more. Also on the program is a medley of popular Disney tunes, including "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" from Cinderella, "A Whole New World" from Aladdin, "Someday My Prince Will Come" from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and "Once Upon a Dream" from Sleeping Beauty. Happy Birthday Carol Channing! She is the recipient of three Tony Awards (including one for lifetime achievement), a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination. Channing is best remembered for originating, on Broadway, the musical-comedy roles of bombshell Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and matchmaking widow Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly! She also appeared in two New York revivals of Hello, Dolly!, and toured with it extensively throughout the United States. Channing also appeared in a number of movies, The First Traveling Sales Lady (1956) with Ginger Rogers, the cult film Skidoo and Thoroughly Modern Millie, opposite Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore.
