Profiles in History, run by Joe Maddalena, is proud to announce that a historic collection of costumes worn by Christopher Plummer 'Captain Von Trapp' and the 'Von Trapp Children' from The Sound of Music, will be going up for sale at their Hollywood Auction on December 21st. The Sound of Music has been popular in recent auctions, with a lot this summer selling for over $1.5 million, also from Profiles in History. This distinctive set contains a key Christopher Plummer costume; this past summer's sale included the children and Julie Andrews' costumes.

Al Hirschfeld, whose legendary quill pen captured virtually every well-known performing artist of the 20th century, will be celebrated by Henri Bendel. Guests are invited to the opening of this 'Hirschfeld Spectacular,' where all will enjoy a first-of-its-kind installation. Henri Bendel has worked hand-in-hand with Hirschfeld's exclusive gallery, the Margo Feiden Galleries Ltd., New York, to create a truly unique presentation of the late illustrator's work.

Legendary Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress, singer, and recording artist Leslie Uggams will take part in the First Grade Theatre Study program at P.S. 212 (Midtown West School at 328 W 48th Street) on Monday, November 18 at 1 p.m. The Study, part of the school's social studies curriculum, was started by Kindergarten/First Grade Teacher Bryan Andes as a way to introduce students to the bustling theater community in which they live.

Sing-A-Long Sound of Music once again beckons turkey-stuffed friends and families to Chicago's Music Box Theatre for Thanksgiving weekend. The spirited audience-participation event includes a presentation of the 1962 Rogers & Hammerstein movie musical The Sound of Music in glorious Technicolor and full-screen Cinemascope. Lyrics are projected on the screen during the movie so that the audience can easily sing along to 'Do-Re-Me,' 'Edelweiss' and, of course, 'My Favorite Things.' The film is preceded by a hosted warm-up and a 'fancy-dress' costume contest. Sing-A-Long Sound of Music runs Friday-Sunday, November 29-December 1, 2013 at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Avenue.

Robert Mackintosh, the St. James Theatre and Hilary A Williams are thrilled to announce that they will be presenting by arrangement of Cameron Mackintosh, Alex Parker's production of the London premiere of Stephen Sondheim's Putting it Together from 14 January - 1 February 2014.
