As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, production for the highly anticipated remake of Footloose is now in production in anticipation of an April 2011 release date. According to EW.com, Andie MacDowell is set to play Vi, in the highly anticipated Footloose remake. MacDoweel will join Julianne Hough, Kenny Worlmald, and Dennis Quaid, who will play MacDowell's husband-Reverend Moore. The movie is set to hit theatres in April of 2011, and production will begin in the near future.

Dennis Quaid also joins the cast in the role of ‘Reverend Moore', along with Miles Teller as ‘Willard'.

Production for the upcoming musical drama film, 'Burlesque,' starring Cher, Christina Aguilera, Stanley Tucci and Alan Cumming is well underway in preparation for a 2010 Thanksgiving opening. Music superstar Cher has announced plans for a tour following her 2010 engagement of 'Cher the Colosseum.' The singer will release an album later this year featuring the single 'Already Been There' and will be seen later this year in the film 'Burlesque' with Christina Aguilera and Julianne Hough. The tour will be the first since her 'Farewell Tour.'

The Academy of Country Music announced today that Laura Bell Bundy, Billy Currington, John Fogerty, Jack Ingram featuring Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith with Dave Koz, Miranda Lambert, Rascal Flatts and Darius Rucker are scheduled to perform as part of the 45th ANNUAL ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS, hosted by Reba McEntire.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford has officially backed out of the upcoming remake of Footloose. Entertainment Weekly reports that Paramount is now planning on casting an unknown to take on the role Kevin Bacon made famous in the iconic 1984 film. Hairspray star Zac Efron was originally cast in the role before Crawford replaced him. It was widely believed that Crawford was tapped in order to avoid typecasting in the role.
