The Flea Theater has announced the World Premiere of Mallery Avidon's MARY-KATE OLSEN IS IN LOVE. This satire about love and growing-up and "being real" will be directed by Flea Resident Director Kristen Seemel and feature members of The Bats. Previews begin November 1 with opening slated for November 18. MCC THEATER has announced the line-up for their upcoming PlayLabs reading series, featuring new plays by members of the company's Playwrights' Coalition. Traditionally held in the Spring, MCC'sPlayLab will now shift to the autumn months, launching this year on four consecutive Mondays throughout September (beginning September 9th) at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street). All readings are at 7pm. The Flea Theater will continue it's tradition of late-night offerings with The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet. Five teams of actors helmed by five Flea Resident Directors each perform an act from Shakespeare's most tragic love story. Cast from The Flea resident acting company, The Bats, Romeo and Juliet follows the inaugural Shakes, The Honest Whore by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton. The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet will be performed in one-act installments until the play is complete.
