Theatre Communications Group Publishes AN IDEAL THEATER: FOUNDING VISIONS

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) is pleased to announce the publication of An Ideal Theater: Founding Visions for a New American Art, a wide-ranging, inspiring documentary history of the American theatre movement as told by the visionaries who goaded it into being.

Berkshire Playwrights Lab Presents Staged Reading of LOVE/SICK Tonight

Berkshire Playwrights Lab will present a staged reading of John Cariani's Love/Sick, directed by Daniel Winerman, tonight, July 10 at 7:30pm at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center (14 Castle Street, Great Barrington, Mass.). There is no charge for admission, however, Berkshire Playwrights Lab suggests a $10.00 donation to help offset its programming costs. For reservations, call 413.528.0100 or visit the Mahaiwe box office in person.

The Martin E. Alan Alda Receives 2013 Common Wealth Award for Dramatic Arts

Four renowned achievers will be honored for their lifetime accomplishments with the 34th Annual Common Wealth Awards of Distinguished Service. The awards recognize individuals who have enriched modern society in a range of human endeavors. The 2013 Common Wealth Award winners are: Alan Alda, celebrated actor, director and screenwriter, for Dramatic Arts; David McCullough, preeminent author and historian, for Literature; Jane Pauley, leading broadcast journalist, Today Show contributor and author, for Mass Communications; Martin Sheen, film legend, social activist and humanitarian, for Public Service.

The Living Theatre Will Continue in NYC

Under the artistic direction of the legendary Judith Malina, The Living Theatre will continue to produce its unique avant-garde political theatre in New York City. Additional performances of its current hit, HERE WE ARE, are set to play downtown's Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center (107 Suffolk Street) in Manhattan, March 26-29 at 8pm.

KANE AND HABIL IN THE PIZZA PARLOR Plays La MaMa, Now thru 1/27

With humor and vision, 'Kane and Habil in the Pizza Parlor' (http://kaneandhabil.com) explores the original family sins that are still impacting our civilization. The title characters are the children of Adam and Eve. The play is a comedy, written and directed by Serge Ernandez. The production features an adept cast headed by Obie-winner Sheila Dabney as Eve, who also directs the play's chorus. Ernandez is a veteran of The Living Theatre; Dabney is a senior member of La MaMa's Great Jones Rep. La Mama E.T.C. will present the play's premiere run tonight, January 18 to 27 in its second-floor Club.

Judith Malina's HERE WE ARE launches The Living Theatre's 66th Season

The Living Theatre, the oldest experimental theatre group still producing in the United States, launches its 66th year with the world premiere of Judith Malina's HERE WE ARE -- with previews to begin January 10, prior to its official press opening January 23 at The Living Theatre (21 Clinton Street). Judith Malina directs.
