On Thursday, April 2, The Cherry Lane Theatre (located at 38 Commerce Street) celebrated its acclaimed Mentor Project with MENTOR PROJECT: THE NEXT DECADE, a cultivation event featuring guest-speaker Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright EDWARD ALBEE.

OSO at The Southampton Inn, 91 Hill Street in Southampton continues its popular 'Dinner and...' Series featuring a 3 course gourmet dinner and conversations with luminaries in The Hamptons with a very special evening featuring three Hamptonites who have delighted audiences on stages across the East End: Josh Perl founder of The Naked Stages, Josh Gladstone Artistic Director, John Drew Theatre at Guild Hall and Watermill Center Artist in Residence writer/actor/director/choreographer Kate Mueth. Variety is reporting that Cherry Lane Theater has struck a deal with Westbeth, the artists' community that until recently housed Bank Street Theater in its space. Cherry Lane will expand into the theater, renaming the 90-seat black box venue the Cherry Pit to become its third stage. Not only will the venue give Cherry Lane another base for its mentoring program reports Vairety, but it will also provide an additional revenue stream as homeless New York City theater troupes hunt for affordable performance space to rent.

Variety reports that Jayne Atkinson has joined the cast of the upcoming Broadway revival of 'Blithe Spirit,' Atkinson will play the bride of Everett's character, who is plagued by the ghost of his deceased first wife (Ebersole). Atkinson was last on Broadway in 'Enchanted April' in 2003.

It has been announced that MTC's production of TO BE OR NOT TO BE will play its final performance on November 16th, 2008. November 16th, 2008 is the end of Manhattan Theater Club's subscription run. They had previously been offering tickets through November 23rd, 2008, but will now be canceling that week of performances. Patrons who have purchased tickets for performances through November 23rd, 2008 should return to their point of purchase for a refund.
