Ruckus Theater to Stage Remounted HEIST PLAY, 10/12-11/10

The Ruckus's follow-up to their Jeff-Recommended production of Facing Angela will be a revamped version of their first Chicago production, Heist Play. Through a workshop and development process in 2013, this production has undergone significant rewrites by playwright Mitch Vermeersch since its 2009 world premiere. It will again be staged by that production's director, Allison Shoemaker, and performed at The Side Project Theater October 12- November 10, 2013, the intimate storefront venue where both the play and company began.

The Ruckus' Fifth Season to Include HEIST PLAY & THE DEER

Following a successful fourth season with productions at Theater Wit and the Athenaeum Theatre, The Ruckus Theater is proud to announce its fifth season in Chicago. Artistic Director Allison Shoemaker and Associate Artistic Director Joshua Davis release today a season of five new plays and workshops. First, Artistic Director Allison Shoemaker takes the helm of a revamped version of The Ruckus' first Chicago production, Heist Play. Through a workshop and development process in 2013, this production has undergone significant rewrites by playwright Mitch Vermeersch and will be performed at The Side Project (Oct. 12- Nov. 10, 2013). The Spring production, The Deer, is penned by Chicago playwright Brooke Allen (Ruby Wilder) and will be directed by Eric Hoff (Hit the Wall). The Deer will be performed at Collaboraction (March 30-April 27, 2014). Additionally, The Ruckus will present three works-in-progress in the late Spring of 2014, including new work Home After Dark by Will Bishop and two pieces to be devised by the company. The Ruckus Announces FACING ANGELA Schedule Changes at Athenaeum Theatre

The Ruckus Theater is excited to announce its upcoming world premiere of Facing Angela. First written ten years ago and re-imagined through a recent workshop with The Ruckus, Facing Angela is written by Season 4 featured playwright Scott T. Barsotti and is directed by Kyra Lewandowski. The cast of six is a motley crew of Ruckus regulars and Chicago theater favorites. Facing Angela will be performed at the Athenaeum Theatre (2936 N. Southport) June 29-July 28, 2013. Thursday- Saturday performances are at 8:00pm; Sunday performances are at 2pm. In observance of Independence Day, there will not be a show on July 4. There will be an industry performance on Mon. July 8 at 8pm. Preview tickets on June 27 and June 28 are $12. General tickets are $17. A complete performance schedule including dates, times, and ticket prices appears at the end of this release.

The Ruckus Theater and Tympanic Theatre Company to Present BREWED, Opening 3/2

The Ruckus Theater and Tympanic Theatre Company have announced their upcoming world premiere co-production of Brewed. Developed over the course of 8 years through a series of workshops, the script of Brewed is written by Scott T. Barsotti and directed by Anna C. Bahow. The cast of seven women is a motley crew of Ruckus and Tympanic regulars and Chicago theater favorites. Brewed is performed at Theater Wit (1229 W. Belmont) March 2-24, 2013. Thursday-Saturday performances are at 8:00pm; Sunday performances are at 7:00pm. Preview is on Friday, March 1 and tickets are $12. Press opening is on Monday, March 4, 2013. General tickets are $17. The Ruckus Theater and Tympanic Theatre announces casting for the world premiere of Brewed starting March 2, 2013 at Theater Wit in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood. The script of Brewed is written by Ruckus Season 4 featured playwright Scott T. Barsotti and is directed by Chicago director Anna C. Bahow. The all-female cast of seven includes Dana Black (Next Theatre Company, Lifeline Theatre), Ruckus Ensemble Member Stevie Chaddock-Lambert (Ka-Tet Theatre, Strangeloop Theatre), Tympanic Company Member Charlotte Mae Ellison (Clockwise Theatre, Awkward Pause), Meredith Lyons (The House Theatre, Theatre for People Who Need It) Ruckus Company Member Elise Mayfield (The Mammals, Infusion Theatre), Tympanic Artistic Associate Susan Myburgh (Right Brain Project, Chicago Fusion Theatre), and Erin Myers (The Mammals, 16th Street Theater).
