Today, Carnegie Hall announced that the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), a program of Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute, will make its debut at the Tanglewood music festival, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the Berkshire hills of Massachusetts, on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. in Ozawa Hall.
In 2014 Tanglewood welcomes Andris Nelsonsfor his first festival appearances as BSO Music Director Designate. His first of four concerts with the BSO will be an all-Dvo?ak program, with the composer's symphonic poem The Noonday Witch, the Violin Concerto with soloist Anne-Sophie Mutter, and the Symphony No. 8 (7/11). For his second BSO program on July 19, Maestro Nelsons will be joined by Swedish trumpeter Hakan Hardenberger performing his compatriot Rolf Martinsson's Trumpet Concerto, on a program with music by Brahms and Tchaikovsky. The following Sunday afternoon (7/20), Maestro Nelsons will open his BSO program withChristopher Rouse's Rapture, followed by Lalo'sSymphonie espagnole, with violin soloist Joshua Bell, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 5.

Tonight, November 21 through the 24th, 2013, 19-year-old pianist/composer Conrad Tao will premiere his new composition The World Is Very Different Now, performed by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jaap van Zweden. The piece is part of a concert commemorating the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22nd, 1963, and The World Is Very Different Now was commissioned especially for the event by the DSO with support by the National Endowment for the Arts and TACA.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's (CCM) Chamber Choir and Philharmonia Chamber Orchestra join forces to perform a unique staged production of Johann Sebastian Bach's visceral rendering of the St. John Passion as the next installment in CCM's 2013-14 Prestige Concert Series. The monumental work will be presented at 5 p.m. today, Nov. 3, at Christ Church Cathedral under the direction of Earl Rivers, staged by Omer Ben-Seadia, and in conjunction with the Constella Festival of Music and Fine Arts.

Also featured is Beethoven's vivid Symphony No. 6 in F major, "Pastoral," considered among Beethoven's most exquisitely beautiful and popular works. Music Director and Conductor Steven Reineke will lead the orchestra in a highly-anticipated opening with America's largest-selling instrumental artist, trumpeter Chris Botti. The performance will include selections such as Chopin's 'Prelude in C Minor,' 'Emmanuel,' and 'When I Fall in Love' from his recent Grammy Award-winning album Impressions, as well as other popular favorites, at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.
