St. Martin in the Fields to Play Van Wezel, 3/14

NY Philharmonic Radio Broadcasts to Feature Wynton Marsalis and More, March 2014

The March broadcasts of The New York Philharmonic This Week - the weekly radio series of concerts and recordings by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by Alec Baldwin - begin with Music Director Alan Gilbert leading the Philharmonic in the World Premiere of The Marie-Josee Kravis Composer-in-Residence Christopher Rouse's Prospero's Rooms; Bernstein's Serenade (after Plato's "Symposium"), with Joshua Bell as soloist; and Ives's Symphony No. 4 with representatives of the New York Choral Consortium. The following week Alan Gilbert and Assistant Conductor Case Scaglione will lead the Philharmonic in a performance of Stravinsky's Ragtime for 11 Instruments; Shostakovich's Tahiti Trot; Copland's Clarinet Concerto featuring Associate Principal Clarinet Marc Nuccio; and Wynton Marsalis's Swing Symphony (Symphony No. 3) featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

PSO & BNY Mellon Grand Classics to Perform 2/28-3/2 at Heinz Hall

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra joins with one of the world's most celebrated violinists, Joshua Bell, and Victor de Sabata Guest Conductor Gianandrea Noseda for a BNY Mellon Grand Classics program inspired by dramatic tales and far off lands on February 28 to March 2 at Heinz Hall.

Johannes Moser to Replace Truls Mork as Soloist with The Philadelphia Orchestra, 2/21

Carnegie Hall today announced that cellist Johannes Moser has graciously agreed to step in for Truls Mork as soloist in Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 107, with The Philadelphia Orchestra and Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage next Friday, February 21 at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Mork has withdrawn from this appearance due to an injury to his shoulder as a result of a skiing accident; he is expected to make a full recovery in the coming weeks. The remainder of the orchestra's program-to include Richard Strauss's Metamorphosen: A Study for 23 Strings and Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, 'Eroica'-remains the same. This concert marks Mr. Moser's Carnegie Hall debut.

18th Annual Virginia Arts Festival Features Lang Lang, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, and More in 2014 Season, Beg. Today

LA Phil Announces 2014-15 Season at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and President and CEO Deborah Borda today announced the 2014/15 season of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This new season, the orchestra's 96th, is devoted to moving music forward by presenting an ever-evolving vision through a series of programs that demonstrate the artistry of the Los Angeles Philharmonic as a leading orchestra of the 21st century, under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel.

Lincoln Center Unveils 2014-15 Great Performers Season

The 49th season of Lincoln Center's Great Performers series, which will run from November 2, 2014 through May 10, 2015, was announced today by Jane Moss, Ehrenkranz Artistic Director. Highlighting the season are the return of the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, led by Riccardo Chailly and of Michael Tilson Thomasconducting the London Symphony Orchestra. The "Art of the Song" series returns in 2015 with recitals by four outstanding vocal artists. The 2014-2015 season also features a period-instrument chamber orchestra series, a recital series, and a film series, and includes pre- and post-concert discussions and lectures. A new series, "Complimentary Classical" will bring four compelling string quartets to the David Rubenstein Atrium in free concerts in 2015.

DiMenna Center for Classical Music to Screen Essie Jain's Film Album ALL BECAME GOLDEN, 2/28

On February 28 at 8:00 PM, The DiMenna Center for Classical Music will host the premiere screening of Essie Jain's film album, All Became Golden, a visual 5.1 surround-sound version of the album conceived by Jain and director Natalie Johns with music arranged by Nico Muhly. The project was recorded at The DiMenna Center in February 2012. Together with its first public screening, Jain will give a live performance with members of Orchestra of St. Luke's, followed by a conversation with the artist and filmmaker.

Bravo! Vail Announces 2014 Season: NY Phil, Philadelphia Orchestra, & Dallas Symphony Orchestra

Bravo! Vail has announced its 27th Season, taking place from June 27th to August 2nd, 2014. Internationally acclaimed soloists will join the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. World-renowned chamber musicians join artistic director Anne-Marie McDermott for the Chamber Music Series and Silver Oak & Twomey Series.
