The final performances of a world premiere of a mainstage production based on an epic sea story and a play about an African-American actress who must choose between her principles and a plum role, are among the May events presented by Northwestern University's Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts -- formerly known as the Theatre and Interpretation Center (TIC) at Northwestern University.

North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre (NRACT) will present 'I Never Saw Another Butterfly: The Musical' based on the play by Celeste Raspanti, for nine performances, today, April 25-May 11, 2014.

The Rose Theater's upcoming season invites audiences to gallop off to the Old West, fly away to a distant planet in another dimension and float away holding a magical umbrella. The nine main stage shows promise to transport audiences to new worlds and open their minds to a multitude of experiences.

Everyone's favorite friendly spider and barnyard crew are heading back to the city April 10 - May 25 for all generations to enjoy their tale of friendship. E.B. White's timeless story, Charlotte's Web, will wow guests at the Center for Puppetry Arts with its heartwarming wisdom as Charlotte the spider saves Wilbur the pig by using her wits, words and webs. With the help of some of the barnyard's most colorful residents, including Templeton, the gluttonous rat, this family favorite shares the enduring message of how friends can work together to overcome adversity.

Virginia Repertory Theatre revealed the new titles for the 2014/15 Season with a public announcement at the November Theatre last evening. The announcement marks Bruce Miller and Phil Whiteway's 40th season as Artistic Director and Managing Director. Miller reflects on this milestone, "I'm proud to be announcing my 40th season as Artistic Director. The 18 shows that comprise Virginia Rep's 2014/15 roster include several of my favorite comedies, dramas and musicals. Whether a renowned classic or an exciting new release, each selection will take us on a breathtaking journey. I can't wait to discover with our audience the adventures that lie ahead."

Second Story Repertory presents Charlotte's Web, based on the book by E. B. White. The book was adapted by Joseph Robinette and directed by Stephanie McBain. The original music is by Kevin Miller. Charlotte's Web will run from March 21 to April 6.

Woe to anyone who shoots their eye out, for not being able to see A Christmas Story: The Musical at the Woodlawn would be a tragedy. Though their 2012 non-musical production of the classic Holiday film was joyous, this version is superior.
