Following an extensive nationwide search, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Board of Trustees today namedJennifer Bielstein the new executive director of San Francisco's premier nonprofit theater organization. Bielstein succeeds Peter Pastreich who will depart from American Conservatory Theater at the end of the 2017-18 season.

The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) announced it will present BAD NEWS! i was there… created and directed by JoAnne Akalaitis with Kate Atwell, Greg Taubman and Ashley Tata with original music and sound by Bruce Odland. Playing June 2-3, 2018, for four performances only, this unique theater experience will take place in the Guthrie lobbies in promenade style, which requires patrons to stand and walk during the performance. A limited number of chairs will be available for accessible seating.

Juilliard today announced that Obie-award winning director Evan Yionoulis, currently professor in the practice of acting and directing at Yale School of Drama and a resident director at Yale Repertory Theatre, will become the school's Richard Rodgers Director of Drama at Juilliardstarting with the 2018-19 academic and performance season. The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) is pleased to announce that Wendall K. Harrington, the "godmother of modern projection design" and head of the MFA program in Projection Design at the Yale School of Drama, will be delivering the keynote speech at the USITT 2018 Conference & Stage Expo.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, has opened the application for the first of this season's two Charles Abbott Fellowships and announced the timetable for the second Fellowship application process. The fellowship opportunities will be with Curt Columbus, artistic director of Trinity Repertory Company in Providence RI on his production of the musical Ragtime at Trinity Rep, and with Joseph Haj, artistic director of the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis MN on his production of the musical West Side Story at The Guthrie.
