Expanding on the popular podcast “Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations,” OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today it will launch the podcast version of its Emmy-nominated series “Oprah's Master Class” on Apple Podcasts. A sneak preview of the podcast featuring actor and producer Dwayne Johnson is available today, July 17, and the podcast will officially debut on Thursday, July 19 with hip-hop innovator and entrepreneur Jay-Z. Each week, the podcast will feature previously aired content from the television series' most popular interviews with the most respected and renowned actors, musicians, public figures and athletes sharing their greatest life lessons in their own words.
The Last O.G. continues to be a breakout success since the series' debut on the #1 comedy network that set a new record as cable's biggest comedy premiere since 2015. Additionally, the network's newest original became 2018's #1 cable comedy show among all cable comedies this year, reaching a multiplatform audience of more than 42 million viewers across TBS' linear, digital, mobile and on-demand platforms. In the backdrop of both its audience and critical acclaim and ongoing ratings success, the network also quietly won big with The Last O.G., by pioneering a new direct-to-consumer marketing model with 'social good' driven initiatives. The innovative campaign, initially kicked off in November 2017, spanned the entire on-air run of the series and 'gave back' directly to local communities, while setting another record as TBS' biggest 'pro-social' marketing campaign for a scripted series.
YouTube has given a straight-to-series order for WEIRD CITY, a half-hour comedic sci-fi anthology co-created by Academy Award and Emmy Award winning writer Jordan Peele and Emmy Award nominated writer Charlie Sanders (Key and Peele). The six-episode series will debut exclusively on YouTube Premium in 2019. Emmy winner Adam Bernstein (Fargo, Scrubs, 30 Rock) is set to direct the first two episodes.
“Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations” podcast will feature an all-new interview with Peabody and Emmy-winning journalist, producer, and bestselling author Maria Shriver. The interview will be available on Apple Podcasts (ApplePodcasts.com/OprahSuperSoul) and other podcast platforms beginning Monday, June 25. The series is tracking as #1 among all cable comedies this year, including premium services. This marks the biggest cable comedy premiere since 2016, the largest scripted cable comedy premiere since 2015, and the strongest TBS original debut ever. More than 6.9M total viewers (3.3M 18-49) tuned into the show over a three-night, five-telecast launch on TBS and TNT following the NCAA Final Four tournament.
