'Mid Century' is in renaissance. Mid-century decor, mid-century fashion, mid-century architecture (although Palm Springs architecture has never left the '50's and '60's). Now we welcome a resurgence of Mid Century entertainment at The Walnut, America's oldest theatre and a National Historic Landmark.

Santa Barbara Writers Conference co-founder Mary Conrad and her creative literary and film team, will launch a book and film titled, 'Santa Barbara Writers Conference Scrapbook,' in early 2017. Each project uncovers the conference's early days at the Miramar Hotel, and its untold tales and photos of literary Who's Whos, during their annual pilgrimage to the beachside writing retreat. Conrad, the quick-witted wife of the late Barnaby Conrad, author of 'Matador' (the book Hemingway said he wished he'd written), organized a team of creative pros to see her project to fruition. The book is due for a first quarter publishing launch and the film has been submitted to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

The 45th Annual Santa Barbara Writers Conference (SBWC) opens its Early Bird Registration today to writers from all over the world. The acclaimed literary event will be held at the oceanfront Hyatt Santa Barbara, from June 18-23, 2017.

The 18th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor was awarded last night to comedian Eddie Murphy. T
