Yaddo to Hold PAPER TRAILS Benefit Auction, 5/5-14

Marc Straus in New York City will open its galleries May 5 - 6 to offer an early look at items featured in 'Paper Trails', a unique auction of manuscripts, sketches, notes and drafts from selected artists that will help support Yaddo's artists' residency program.

SoHo Rep And The Play Company Presents THE UGLY ONE

After nearly 100 productions of the play around the world, including two by the Royal Court Theatre in London, Soho Rep and The Play Company, in association with John Adrian Selzer, will present the New York premiere February 1-26, 2012.

Brooklyn Book Festival Features All-Star Literary Line-up, 9/12

The fifth anniversary of the Brooklyn Book Festival will take place on Sunday, September 12, with an all-star literary lineup, including Salman Rushdie, Mary Gaitskill, Colson Whitehead, Paul Auster, Rosanne Cash, Paul Krugman, Gary Shteyngart, Francine Prose, Dennis Lehane, Jonathan Lethem, Pete Hamill, Jennifer Egan, Russell Banks, Michael Connelly, John Hodgman, Kristen Schaal, Thurston Moore, Sam Lipsyte, Sloane Crosley, Sandra Rodriguez and Paul Harding and many, many more, as well as Children's and Young Adult Lit stars like Rebecca Stead, Sara Shepard, Jacqueline Woodson, and Jon Scieszka. The Festival is a free, literary celebration featuring more than 200 national and international authors in readings and panel discussions. Always diverse, thought-provoking and lively, this premier literary event welcomes more than 30,000 attendees from around the world. The Brooklyn Book Festival is an initiative of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, Brooklyn Tourism, and the Brooklyn Literary Council.

The Tank Presents Under the Influence: Two Plays 5/13-15

Two one-act plays, each adapted from other works, one literary the other visual. THE MAD BROOKLYNITE, based on short stories by novelist Jonathan Lethem, poses the question, what happens when you ask directions of a stranger on a Brooklyn subway platform? SUNLIGHT IN A CAFETERIA imagines the two subjects of an Edward Hopper painting come to life, fully aware that they are in a work of art.
