This summer, NYMF will be on quest to save Paradise one Scrabble tile at a time. The new musical, The Last Word will be presented at the Duke on 42nd Street, a NEW 42ND STREET project (229 W 42nd St) . The Last Word is written by Brett Sullivan (Billy Elliot Live Film Director) and will be directed by Michael Bello (Doctor Zhivago), choreography by Nick Kenkel (Gotta Dance, Legally Blonde) and Musical Supervisor is Conrad Helfrich (Dirty Dancing).  It will begin performances on July 22 and will run through July 29, 2016. Tickets are $27.50 and can be purchased by visiting NYMF.org.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW), Dale Franzen and Mara Isaacs announced today that HADESTOWN, a new folk opera written by celebrated singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell and developed with and directed by the three-time OBIE award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (The Royale; Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812), will record a live cast album at the evening performances on Tuesday, June 28 and Wednesday, June 29.

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, has unveiled full casting for Gilbert & Sullivan's THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, which will star previously announced Will Swenson as 'The Pirate King.'

The Old Globe has announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of Paul Gordon's delightfully romantic new musical SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, developed with Rick Boynton and presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it was commissioned and had its world premiere in April 2015.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) returns to Adelphi University for the fifth year of its summer residency program in the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AUPAC). From June 16-June 26, 2016, AUPAC and the Adelphi Department of Theatre will host NYTW's 2050 Fellowship retreat and developmental workshops focusing on director-driven projects.

The Lobby Project, a series of free pre-show events presented in conjunction with New York City Center's Encores! Off-Center season, will take place July 6-9 & 27-30. These events provide an insightful exploration of the topics and themes presented in the season's musicals through performances, conversations with artists and experts, workshops, and a Menken Mixtape contest in which the winners will perform their Alan Menken remixes for Menken himself. The 20th Anniversary production of Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical RENT is the fastest selling show in the history of the St. James Theatre, having sold the most tickets not only in a 24-hour period after on-sale, but also in the first week of an on-sale period. RENT also breaks the record for the most amount of money taken on the first day of sales, beating the theatre's previous fastest selling show record-holders, Sideways and The Pianist of Willesden Lane.

The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE announces the creative teams and casting for the two original book musicals, Blessing, music and lyrics by Andrew R. Butler and book by Andrew Farmer, and The White City, music by Avi Amon and book and lyrics by Julia Gytri, which will be developed in an intensive two-week summer lab at Yale School of Drama, June 13-25.
