The SPCO Liquid Music Series Adds Performance for TU Dance and Bon Iver

 Electrifying contemporary dance company TU Dance, known for navigating complex themes of social change "with variety and innovation" (Star Tribune) and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, whose "rustic chamber pop with an experimental edge" (Pitchfork) and "hyper-modern balladeering" (The Guardian) has garnered Grammy Awards and significant international acclaim, come together in an unprecedented collaboration of local powerhouses. Taking place in the newly restored Palace Theatre in Saint Paul, in evening performances Thursday-Saturday, April 19-21, 2018, commission features new music from Vernon as well as new choreography from TU Dance's "incredible polyrhythmic genius" (Star Tribune) Uri Sands. Due to popular demand, the SPCO has scheduled a fourth performance on the afternoon of April 21.

The stunt performers and coordinators from Wonder Woman and Game of Thrones are this year's Screen Actors Guild Awards honorees for Outstanding Action Performances by Film and Television Stunt Ensembles, it was announced today from the 24th Annual SAG Awards red carpet by SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and SAG Awards Committee Chair JoBeth Williams.

Juilliard Historical Performance Announces 2017-18 Season

Juilliard Historical Performance, the school's graduate-level, full-tuition scholarship program for early music, enters its ninth performance season with a full schedule of concerts, tours, residencies, and master classes anchored by performances from its primary period-instrument ensemble, Juilliard415, and a roster of distinguished guests artists. The 2017-18 season will feature appearances by Harry Bicket, William Christie, Jonathan Cohen, Richard Egarr, Nicholas McGegan, Robert Mealy, Lionel Meunier, Rachel Podger, Shunske Sato, Stephen Stubbs, Masaaki Suzuki, and vocal ensembles Vox Luminis and Yale Schola Cantorum.

Sarah Kirkland Snider's Unremembered, "one of the most significant and harrowing releases of [2015]" (Thought Catalog), explores the fragility and nuance of memories and emotions in an hour-long, 13-part song cycle inspired by poems and illustrations by Nathaniel Bellows.

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music, Walker Art Center and Schubert Club Mix present ROOMFUL OF TEETH

Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth and sonic experimentalist Nick Zammuto (The Books) assemble a custom-built evening of sound explorations in a world premiere collaboration commissioned by the SPCO's Liquid Music, Walker Art Center and Schubert Club Mix. In addition, the vocal ensemble performs the Minnesota premiere of Partita for 8 Voices, group member Caroline Shaw's mesmerizing Pulitzer Prize-winning composition.

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra's Liquid Music presents Ambrose Akinmusire and Kool A.D.: ORIGAMI HARVEST

Jazz trumpet virtuoso Ambrose Akinmusire joins his "unfurling lines that confound expectation" (Chicago Tribune) with rapper Kool A.D.'s "social consciousness infused irreverence" (Colorlines) to create a brand new chamber music work co-commissioned by Liquid Music and the Ecstatic Music Festival. Guided by Akinmusire's "strong aesthetic compass" (The New York Times), this uniquely explorative and expressive world premiere collaboration will feature the "fearless, precise and forward-looking" (The Chicago Reader) Mivos Quartet alongside pianist Sam Harris and drummer Marcus Gilmore.
