HBO Documentary Films has acquired worldwide TV and streaming rights to Participant Media and Emerson Collective's documentary feature film FOSTER. Producer Deborah Oppenheimer and writer-director Mark Jonathan Harris (HBO's Oscar®-winning “Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport”) reunite to upend some of the most enduring myths about foster care, going beyond the sensational headlines and stereotypes. The Sabine Films production, which recently had its world premiere at AFI DOCS Film Festival in Washington, D.C., will debut on HBO in 2019.

Hailed for its 'compelling and innovative programming (WQXR Radio)," dell'Arte Opera Ensemble today announced its 2018 summer festival dedicated to works by Mozart and Salieri. Starting on August 11, 2018, and running until August 26, the festival features 13 performances of two fully-staged operas, a scenes program, and an intimate recital to be presented in the intimate black-box space of La MaMa Theatre. Currently in its 16th season, dell'Arte has filled the summer lull with fresh productions of well-known classics and rarities, performed by the developmental company's cast of young singers, supported by a fine musical ensemble.

The gala benefits two local charities, Playhouse on Park and The Town That Cares. Proceeds from last year's event covered important operating expenses for Playhouse youth programming, and helped The Town That Cares meet a significant uptick in requests for the Food Pantry.

LILI MARLENE - This original musical love story of Rosie Penn, the famous cabaret singer, and Count Hans Wilhelm van Kleister Graff, is set in the last year of the Weimar German Republic and into the 3rd Reich period. As the dark clouds of Fascist takeover become clearer, the Count, as the head of the passport bureau of the State Department, works to get the VIP German cultural and scientific elite out of German. The Count realizes that he must leave and get his surviving family out before the shadowy inhumanity of anti-Semitism descends upon them as National Healthcare and Immigration Reform, Industrial Unity and National Pride become the motto of the new Nazi Party.
