The Best in LA Theatre for 2013

Get transported back to the roaring 20's as Rockwell: Table & Stage (www.rockwell-la.com) is transformed into the world of Gatsby for a one-night-only New Year's Eve extravaganza. Your evening begins with a three-course prix fixe dinner created by chefs Wayne Elias and Martin Gonzalez, followed by a performance of Rockwell's acclaimed For the Record: Baz Luhrmann, where powerhouse performers from music, stage and screen fill the space around you with iconic music and moments from Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet, Strictly Ballroom and The Great Gatsby. After the show, the entire Rockwell: Table & Stage space will be magically transformed into a Gatsby era after-party featuring a live band, along with a decadent buffet and complimentary glass of champagne for the New Year's Eve champagne toast at midnight. For those who'd prefer to skip dinner and the show and go straight to flappering into the night, there's a VIP Party Only option. You will have access to a second-floor VIP salon decked in Gatsby decor, featuring a full buffet, champagne toast, balloon drop and a live band from 9:00pm until the whole party ends at 2:00am.

Bare became a cult hit when it premiered in Los Angeles in the fall of 2000. Originally scheduled to run for only six weeks, it ended up playing six months, and became the sweetheart of the musical theatre community, with numerous celebs in attendance and audience members making multiple visits, according to director's notes.

The Los Angeles revival of bare, produced by glory|struck productions premieres this fall at Downtown Los Angeles' historic Hayworth Theatre.

Thirteen years after bare, the pop opera, began its journey, bare, the rock musical, returns to Los Angeles. The glory|struck production is set to open at the Hayworth Theatre September 6 (with a preview performance on September 5).

Producers are thrilled to announce that 'Pitch Perfect' actress Shelley Regner has joined the cast of the Los Angeles revival of bare as Nadia for select performances. Regner will be filling in for Katie Stevens (Fox's 'American Idol') on dates when she will be concurrently filming the MTV Pilot 'Faking It.'

BWW TV's Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans of the JLE Media Group were on hand to produce exclusive television coverage for Broadway World at the Finale of LA's Next Great Stage Star 2013 which broke all previous years attendance records during its six week run at Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal in the NoHo Arts district of North Hollywood, CA January 6 through February 10. glory|struck is pleased to announce a one-night-only reunion of the musicians and vocalists from last year's sold-out run of SPRING AWAKENING: IN CONCERT which played Downtown Los Angeles in a limited engagement raising awareness for the LOVE IS LOUDER movement.

On Sunday, February 10 LA's Next Great Stage Star 2013 came to a thrilling conclusion atSterling's Upstairs at the Federal. Sadly, one contestant, Matthew Bohrer, was stranded at Logan Airport, Boston due to the East coast blizzard of the past several days. Host Michael Sterling contacted Bohrer by cell at the top of the show, and what followed was a bittersweet exchange. Bohrer expressed his happiness to have been part of the competition for five weeks, and his sorrow for not being able to be there for the finale, as he wished his fellow contestants all the best of luck. His points for the preceding weeks were still counted in the final tally.

LA's Next Great Stage Star 2013, the only musical theatre competition of its kind on the West Coast, kicked off on January 6th and runs through February 10. Meet this year's contestants below!
