The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs presented the 26th Annual MAC Awards Show on March 29th. The awards ceremony was held at B.B. King Blues Club, and the show was directed by Lennie Watts and produced by Julie Miller. BWW was there to cover the event. Check out the photos below!

The singer, actress and comedienne Kaye Ballard, the Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter and actress Dee Dee Bridgewater, and the jazz trumpeter and cornetist Warren Vaché will be the special honorees of the 2012 Bistro Awards on Monday, April 23 at 6:30pm. Taking place at Gotham Comedy Club, 208 West 23rd Street (between 7th & 8th avenues), the 27th Annual Bistro Awards gala, which celebrates outstanding achievement in New York cabaret and jazz, will also recognize 22 other artists and shows.

The legendary choreographer/dancer/theatre director Donald Saddler was awarded the Duke Ellington Center for the Arts' 1st Annual Duke Ellington 'Beyond Category' Award at a special tribute performance last night (Monday, June 13, 2011) in Merkin Concert Hall at the Elaine Kaufman Center in New York City. The award show was a fund-raiser in support of the Duke Ellington Arts Scholarship Fund.

The Mad Batter, 19 Jackson Street, is hosting an after-show opening night party for KT Sullivan on Friday, April 29. Hors d'oeuvres are provided, with a cash bar, but no other costs, to come and meet this lovely Broadway and cabaret performer and her musical arranger and accompanist, Jon Weber.
KT is only performing for two nights in Cape May: April 29 and 30 at 8:00 p.m., at The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St. in Cape May.
LESSER AMERICA Granted Home at Iconic THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY

After working together on the critically acclaimed run of the original play 'Keep Your Baggage With You (at all times)' at Theater for the New City in 2010 (written by Jonathan Blitstein, directed by Daniel Talbott), Daniel Abeles, Jonathan Blitstein, Nate Miller and Laura Ramadei teamed up to launch a new theater company called LESSER AMERICA. Theater For the New City has granted Lesser America a residency affording the group three full-scale productions in its inaugural year, the first residency of its kind at the theater.

The music of Mickey Leonard, composer and arranger cherished by the cabaret and jazz communities was presented by Karen Oberlin at the Metropolitan Room on January 22, 2011. The evening was hosted by David Hadju and Mr. Leonard's music was sung & played by a bevy of the music worlds finest. The event will also take place on February 10, at 9:30 hosted by Rex Reed. Mickey Leoanrd has written some of the most beloved standards of the Great American Songbook, such as 'Why Did I Choose You?' and 'I'm All Smiles' with lyrics by Herb Martin. He has also written with lyricists Carolyn Leigh and Marshall Barer to name a few, and he has arranged and conducted for the legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans and many others. His songs have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Barbara Cook, Marvin Gaye, Shirley Horn, Mabel Mercer, Nancy Lamott, Joe Williams, George Shearing, Andy Williams and the list goes on.........Performers in these events will include: Joyce Breach Barbara Brussell, Ellen Bullinger, Eric Comstock & Barbara Fasano, Maud Hixson, Tanya Holt, Mickey Leonard, Pamela Luss, Marissa Mulder, Mark Murphy, Mark Nadler, Karen Oberlin, Rex Reed, Jane Scheckter, Sandy Stewart,KT Sullivan, Warren Vache, Jon Weber and special surprise guests.
