Cutting Edge Talent Slated for NYU Skirball's 2017-18 Dance Season

NYU Skirball's 2017-18 dance season kicks off on September 15 with a FREE immersive dance party by the unconventional dance company AUNTS, and continues with the American premiere of Congolese choreographer Faustin Linyekula's In Search of Dinozord, a heart-wrenching look at the consequences of war, on September 22 and 23. The season, the first curated by Skirball's new director, Jay Wegman, will showcase diverse and cutting-edge international talent from Brussels, Denmark, France, Germany, Republic of Congo, the U.K. and the United States.

The live special will also include musical performances by Kelly Clarkson, Jordan Fisher and Hunter Hayes. Dance star and social media influencer Dytto, and actor Jorge Diaz will host a pre-show that will stream live on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube starting at 3:30 PM PT/6:30 PM ET.

Kravis Center for the Performing Arts today announced a major new addition to its 25th Anniversary NIGHT OF STARS, which will be presented on Today, February 11, at 7 pm.  Darren Criss, perhaps best known for his years co-starring in the TV hit Glee, is replacing the previously announced Patti LuPone, who is opening on Broadway this spring in the new musical War Paint.

Sunday's Backstage at the Geffen, star-studded fundraiser at the Geffen Playhouse and the pre-show host committee dinner grossed over $1.4 million for the Geffen Playhouse's education, outreach and artistic initiatives.  Norman Lear presented the Distinction in Service Award to social entrepreneur Jeff Skoll.  Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn presented the Distinction in Theater Award to Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman.
