After playing to sold-out houses in January, world-renowned artist, Vonda Shepard, returns to Feinstein's at the Nikko for two performances only – Friday, August 14 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, August 15 (7 p.m.).  Shepard will perform tracks off her new album, “Rookie,” as well as some of her favorite covers. With the resurgence of 'funk' music made popular by such commercial success as 'Uptown Funk' by Bruno Mars, Al Chez and the Brothers of Funk are on the front-lines of reinventing the genre. This high energy band, (which features sisters too) averages 15 amazing talented cats from the NY area. Along with unique musical arrangements of Rock-Soul-Jazz-Blues-Standards and original tunes, front man Al Chez stratospheric trumpet playing and soulful vocals, make for a magical memorable show.

This past week The Public Theater celerbrated their 2015 Summer Gala, which included a special performance of the free Shakespeare in the Park production of THE TEMPEST, featuring a cast that included Sam Waterston and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and directed by Michael Greif. The summer gala also honored Bernard Spitzer (1924-2014) and Anna Spitzer for their extraordinary support over several years. The 2015 Public Theater summer gala featured appearances by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jonathan Groff, Laura Benanti, Sandra Oh, Peter Dinklage, Alan Rickman, Jane Lynch and many more.
