The Pearl will host its 2015 celebration honoring New York classics on Monday, April 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. at The Penn Club, 30 East 44th Street, New York, NY 10036.

On Sunday, December 7, The Pearl Theatre Company will present a one night only benefit performance of holiday readings, radio plays, and music hosted by WNYC's Leonard Lopate at the theatre company's home on 42nd Street. The special event will include selections of stories from Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, O. Henry, and many more performed by Members of The Pearl's Resident Acting Company including Dominic Cuskern, Jolly Abraham, Dan Daily (currently starring in Major Barbara), Chris Mixon, Carol Schultz and Brad Heberlee. Performing alongside Mr. Lopate and the Company will be the musical duo of Gelber & Manning, providing early jazz standards from Old New York.

As it turns out, two parts family dysfunction (Lewis and Dana), added to one part interesting stranger (Raina), mixed vigorously in the small, brightly stark living room/lobby of an Italian Bed & Breakfast, by a genially detached innkeeper (Alex), will give you a satisfying bite of drama.

The 2014 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Awards Show will take place on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater (405 West 55th Street).

Sartre's No Exit is exactly about that: people who were once masters of their own universe now being forced to see the lives they once lived through the eyes of other people - strangers to boot - and discover that those same lives they led while alive have accompanied them into the depth of Hell. It really isn't so bad in this place that, as Cradeau Garcin makes clear towards the play's start, is meant to have devices of torture around every turn and the torturer ready and relentless in his quest to make the dead suffer. What is so ironic here, though, is that the ability to see themselves for what they really are - essentially now being on the outside looking in - makes each character less human than how he or she was when first walking through the doors of the room eternity will be spent in. Introducing humanity into the lives of people who were without it for their entire existence actually makes Cradeau, Inez and Estelle worse because of the chunk of confidence reflecting on their own lives that disappears as they do so. In a way, having eternity to ponder why each will forever be in Hell is absolutely great as juxtaposed to a lifetime of fire, torture and pain. Why is it, then, that having nothing but their own lives to think about their lives that have ended in one sense and were never really disrupted in another makes for such an exciting and thought provoking play? Honestly, people are forced to face their own humanity, and it applies to every person who goes to see this production of No Exit by the Pearl Theatre Company.

Following the sold out performances and overflow crowds for its first year and a half of Cino Nights presentations (including new plays by Gary Sunshine, Mando Alvarado, Courtney Baron, Florencia Lozano,Kristen Palmer, Emily DeVoti, Lucy Thurber, Jessica Dickey, Adam Szymkowicz, Laura Eason, Daniel Reitz, Megan Mostyn-Brown, Dael Orlandersmith, Keith Reddin, Crystal Skillman, and Charlotte Miller), Rising Phoenix Rep continues the series on April 22nd at 7 p.m. with Casual Encountersby Brooke Berman.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the cast and creative team for the world premiere of Massacre (Sing to Your Children), by Obie Award-winning playwright Jose Rivera, directed by Brian Mertes. Performances will begin Wednesday, April 4th at Rattlestick Theater (224 Waverly Place - off Seventh Avenue South, between Perry & West 11th Streets). The official opening night is set for Thursday, April 12th. The production is scheduled to run through May 12th.

The Pearl Theatre Company (J.R. Sullivan, Artistic Director) has announced its final production of the 2011-12 season, Eugene O'Neill's A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN. It begins performances on March 6, 2012 at New York City Center Stage II. The production will be directed by J.R. Sullivan. Tickets are currently on sale through CityTix® and at NYCityCenter.org.
